The first thing you should know about JWs is they are a cult. Search in google for the sites by ex JWs and you will see.

They don't celebrate Christmas because it is a christian holiday they don't believe in. Newsflash a lot of non- Christians celebrate Christmas. Imagine how the kids feel missing out on it while other kids are getting excited. I don't know why they don't celebrate birthdays but that's pretty sad again that kids get to miss out on birthday presents and you can't wish your mother happy birthday. Tragic.

Other beliefs is no sex before marriage, you have to date a JW and be supervised. God help you if you get sick of being one as you will never see your wife and kids ever again as they side with the cult not you.

You can't serve in any of the forces, vote, go into politics, be patriotic.

You can't go to collage. You can't have a blood transfusion to save your life and if it is your child too bad they just have to die. You are kept an eye on and if you do anything wrong you are held accountable to a board of men in NY

You can't read the bible by itself without their magazine and you are not allowed to question their teachings. You must accept everything blindly.

With all the rules (control) about your life, can you understand why it's called a cult?

How do you feel going door to door trying to convert people from their religious beliefs and telling how they are wrong and JWs are the only ones right? They have only been around since the start of last century.

Also you have no future because Armageddon is coming really soon. It's had a few false dates but JW claim they know when it will be. lmao!

First of all I'd like to answer the person who said one of Jehovah's Witnesses is running for president - no Jehovah's Witness would EVER have anything to do with politics! We do not go to war, we do not vote, we do not salute the flag. Because Jesus said that his kingdom is no part of this world. And all those things are of this world, and this world is run by Satan, not God. (1 John 5:19)

We believe that Jesus is God's son, not God. We don't believe in Evolution. Hell is the common grave of mankind, not a fiery burning place of torment. We follow the ten commandments and many other principles found in the Bible. We are humble people. We live by God's word, the Bible. It guides our lives. Jehovah is God. He is our creator and therefore has the right to tell us how to lead our lives. We believe that in the near future God will step in and do away with the wicked ones and the righteous ones will be left on the earth. And those ones, with the help of Jehovah, will turn the earth back into the paradise that it was intended to be. We will grow to perfection and live forever, if we are faithful to Jehovah. (Revelation 21:3,4; Isa. 37: 9, 11)

Jehovah Witnesses are no different then anyone else. many are married and have children. we work and go to school. we are christians. we are not a cult as many keep saying that we are. a cult live together and worship a man. we worship Jehovah God and do what Jesus Christ commanded us to do at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. we don't celebrate holidays because they are man made. we do give gifts to each other in our family during the year. we do have parties and weddings just like anyone else. we follow the bible. we celebrate Jesus Christ memorial each year on Nisan 14 which is the first night of the passover and since passover is once a year, we celebrate it once a year. if you want to know more about Jehovah Witnesses please see our website at www.watchtower.org. also we do not follow the watchtower as many keep saying, this is a magazine that we place with our neighbors and study on sunday.

they are not GOD'S WITNESSESS--

a few reasons, depending on their circumstances:

they're seduced on their doorstep by promises of a Paradise Earth where there will be no suffering and no death, and if they have very little knowledge of the bible and since this sounds fine and dandy and it's right there in the NWT (the JW version of the Bible), they believe it.

or, they're born into a whole family of Jehovah's Witnesses, and to leave means being completely shunned from their friends and family (that also means not socializing, even at mealtime!)

It's like that verse in the song Hotel California, "you can check out but you can never leave."

Hi, I am a Christian, one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I am one, because I decided to try to live my life as a Christian.

As such I strive to follow the Bible. Because of my beliefs in following the Bible being important I don't celebrate, for instance, Christmas as it is a Pagan holiday.

Ultimately, as most people do, we believe in trying to be good people.

Your best bet for information is to ask a Witness in the real world, if you want you can call a local Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

If that isn't feasible you can go to http://www.watchtower.org

They believe and teach what Jesus taught rather then the Roman Empire/Church adopted after Christ died. Because Jehovah's Witnesses will not adopted the same pagan believes that originated from Egypt as the major churches have done they are labeled by them as a 'cult' to scare people in believing they will go to a fiery hell.

There was a talk at the Kingdom Hall last week on 'Showing Humility during an disagreement'. I helped my friend write it up and it was about the biggest lie people say regarding Witnesses: "You are not Christians... you don't celebrate the birth of the Savior so I have nothing to say to you."
Jehovah's Witnesses are most certainly Christians. Not only do we accept Christ as savior and the ONLY mediator between man and God, we know him to be our reigning KING in heaven.
The Bible shows that Christ will be reigning in the midst of his enemies for a time.

We take the Bible VERY seriously. "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for **teaching, reproving, for setting things straight, for discipling in righteousness** that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."-- 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 ** added by me for emphasis.

The Bible tells us that God does not lie and that people cannot serve both God and the demons. (Heb. 6:18; 1 Cor. 10:21) So it is impossible for us, as Jehovah God's Witnesses to serve him and celebrate holidays with roots and traditions so deeply entrenched in paganism and spiritsm.
And serving Jehovah God wholly means we cannot serve in the military. We know God's Kingdom to be an actual government. In the future, that government will completely destroy the governments which are now in place. But we pay our taxes and obey the laws of the land so long as they don't interfer with God's laws (such as during a draft- many Witnesses have gone to prison and have been executed for refusing to go to war).

All that said, Witnesses still have fun. We have get- togethers and other gatherings. We give gifts to one another for no reason at all and socialize frequently amongst ourselves.

We are discouraged from having close friendships with people who are not witnesses because everyone is affected by their associates for better or worse and we need to be with those who share our faith and convictions.
Likewise, we marry other Witnesses (as a general rule) and we don't date for the shear joy of dating but only in attempt to find a spouse. Dates are chaperoned because "the flesh is weak". We do not engage in any sort of sexual activity before marriage (no oral sex or mutual masterbation or intercourse) because again, we follow the Bible's guidelines and rules.

When members of the congregation commit a serious wrong doing and are unrepentant, they are expelled ("disfellowshipped"). Many people see that as unloving but it is done as a last resort and to keep the congregation spiritually healthy. All contact is cut with the disfellowshipped one in hopes they will see the error of their ways and come back to the congregation. But, it does not "break up" families. If one spouse is disfellowshipped and the other isn't they don't get a divorce (unless the one mate committed adultary and the other wants to end the marriage because of it). They still function as a couple but their spiritual relationship is ended. If a baptized child who still lives at home is cut off, they're not kicked out of the house- again, it's the spiritual relationship that's ended. But friends will no longer socialize with a disfellowshipped one.

Some of this may seem harsh or strange, but we place Jehovah God FIRST in our life above all else and we follow the Bible and the example of his Son and the early Christians. And because of that Witnesses are united by love and knowledge world wide. We all practice and study the same things.
