ROFLMAO that was funny Megegie = ) ! Isn't it obvious they are superior beings , how can you expect such enlightened creatures to eat out of anything less!

Our cats eat and drink out of stainless steel bowls from the dollar store. The first time the little female saw her own reflection in her water bowl, she was scared out of her wits, poor thing. It took some persuasion on our parts to convince her that the face she saw was her own.
As for crystal, that has never happened here. After all, many cats love to drink from the family toilet. And I, for one, have never seen a crystal commode. Comical question, though.

My cats don't care as long as the dish is clean and the food is fresh. Crystal and china are better than plastic, though, which can harbour bacteria and cause chin acne, so good on you if you do offer crystal. I don't have special cat dishes. Mine eat off of the family's porcelain; it gets disinfected in the dishwasher (set on "sanitize") every day.

Tsk tsk, letting kitty watch the fancy cat commercials is not good. That persian is brainwashing them!
My own kitties eat out of porcelain and steel, that way there's no bacteria etc..
Now on to the actual question.. maybe they're spoiled?

because cats rule and dogs drool! Cats I have found are like women...all you need to do is spend a little time with them, sometimes they will love you back and other times they dont wanna be bothered. If you buy them nice things they will like it for a little while and then want something better and flashier

Cats are fickle, but they are creatures of consistency. They want their food at a certain time, in a certain bowl.
My 2 cats do the same thing - if I change the plate they have their wet food on to a different style, they refuse to eat. But sooner or later they have to, because I love them, but I won't give in :)

Not to mention, you have to 'ting' the crystal a couple of times before they'll even come over to be fed..

My cats will eat off what ever they get their food on even the floor. Any animal that licks their nether regions really cares what their food comes in.
