Speaking as an atheist who went to Catholic school, I have to say that I never, ever had anyone tell me I was going to hell, or anything of the sort.

I respected the traditions of the school - stood for the school prayer (on the rare occasions I was actually in the school at the time), went to Religious Studies class, and participated in the school masses, but I didn't make a secret of my atheism either.

If you are in fact an atheist, why would it bother you that someone tells you are going someplace you don't believe in?

Being an Atheist is your choice. Nobody else's. The best thing to do is ignore what they say. Try not to let it get to you, because in my opinion? They're talking crap. Having different beliefs does not mean your going to hell. And you obviously know that, so kudos to you.

I'm a firm believer of not snitching when it comes to school situations; a lot of times it depends on the people your dealing with. However, if it keeps up, you probably should let your teacher or somebody else know that it's bothering you, and maybe they can have a talk with whoever is making fun of you.

Let them know they don't get to you. My younger sister has declared herself as an Atheist, and while I don't agree with her beliefs, I don't confront her about them because that's just it. It's HER beliefs, and I have no right to but in. But I know this. She's not going to hell.

Good luck honey.

Let me put it to you this way. "Invincible Ignorance" is the only way you could possibly not believe in God in this life, and still make it to heaven in the afterlife.

However, given the fact you attend Catholic school, you are surely being exposed to the Dogmatic beliefs of Catholicism. Therefore, you cannot feign this ignorance.

To be fair, the Catholic students should not be flat telling you you're going to hell because, rather than bring you closer to God, their behavior may drive you further away.

If you want them to stop, give Catholic Dogma serious consideration.

I don't understand why an atheist would attend a Catholic school. Wouldn't you be happier in a secular school? It seems to me you're being untrue to your own beliefs in attending a religious school.

I went to catholic school too -
The students were muslims, catholics, atheists.
We didnt care about which faith any of us had - we had other things to worry about.
The tall guys getting jokes on being tall...the guys with glasses jokes about glasses..the fat guys jokes on food,
and the jokes on the girls too -
It`s school. Try to have good times too or change school.

do not start shooting over everybody, it would give atheist a bad reputation -

Watch on youtube how Chris Hitchens responds to critisism, and if the problem persists, talk to the principal.

you can make them envious if you ennumerate all the really cool people you will be hanging out with in hell.
Seriously, the best way to respond to somebody baiting you is not get mad but laugh and turn it into a joke. Then it will soon get boring to them.

So was my favorite brother in law. It bothered him so much, he was valedictorian and got his revenge at graduation, hearing a priest blast the student body for allowing a non-Catholic to have the top grades.
