When you sign up for NROTC, do you get to choose your MOS? Like put it in the contract and everything for the Navy? How about the Marines?

I am a marine, and I can tell you for a fact that if you go marine officer you will not get to pick your mos unless you are the top 1% of your class. The Navy does however and it you go to the navy you will have five options to choose from as your first tour of duty as a navy officer.

in the corps we have this saying............."needs of the marine corps". It will determine where you go, what job you get, how you are promoted and the list goes on forever. Some people fall into good slots and they enjoy it and do well, but if you are to comission I would try a different branch.

If you enlist a year prior to your date of entry into the Marine Corps, than you pretty much have your pick of an MOS.

Although, remember that you do have to test, to see which jobs you are eligible for.
