Welcome to the human race. EVERYBODY asks this about the other gender, it goes both ways.
Just be a friend, talk a lot, get to know the person on a friendship level and if it goes deeper then you've got a foundation to work with. The more you're with the person and the more you know them, the easier it all is. (And you get to know what all those signals are, that way).

i think its just human nature, one of the most fragile things is the human ego. noone likes rejection, so games tend to be played...feelings get hurt...so on so forth.
i def. dont like to play games, i kinda mature, i know what i want...i dont deal with these kinds of things, which why i only had one bf in highschool.(too many immature guys)
when you get older things should get easier...
