How did it affect your moral development and religious preference?

If that first swear word (or the second, or the third) had been censored, would it have changed your life?

I believe I heard it from my father, and it was likely "damn".

I would have to honestly say that I don't believe it affected my moral development. I believe our actions affect our children far more than our speech. My parents taught me that stealing was wrong, and yet I witnessed others doing it (candy, a dime and the like) and at some point I began to steal.

( I don't anymore thank goodness.... that was many years ago).

As for religious preference - it had no bearing whatsoever on that. My parents were Catholic. We went to church fairly regularly before I was 6. After that - it became very sporatic. I remember having very specific questions in my head as young as 9 when taking 1st communion and confession. Those questions were not answered until I pursued them myself at age 27.

blessings UP - great question. That one could take us all the way through dinner I'd wager!! LOL

My family. One of my brothers used to trap me between the couch and the wall and make me say swear words before he'd let me go! The only way this has affected me is that I now swear quite a bit, especially when I'm extremely angry. Other than that, I don't think it has affected my moral development.

I learned my first swear word on the school bus and it had NOTHING to do with my moral development OR religious preferences. The two are completely UNRELATED.

I learned it from my family.. I grew up among the swearers.. so probably when I began to understand speech... I don't recall why nor when I decided to become a non-swearer. I don't know if it had anything to do my my moral development or religious preference. I was only several years old then. I guess, I just didn't (don't) like the sound of it..

I learned my first swear word by my cousin. No. It not affect any part of my life. If I wouldnt have learned my first swear word from my cousin then, from who would I have learned it from? It was bound to happen one day. One thing is listening people say things or actions made that are incorrect and do the same because one might think its ok to do...

My mom was yelling at my brother when I was 6 and I learned the F word. My mom blamed it on my step dad who was then my mom's boyfriend, now her ex. I used it while talking to my 18 year old brother. My family being messed up probably really hurt me, who am I kidding I'm messed up a bit emotionally (I'm not doing drugs or anything bad but over eating), but I went with my step dad and my 12 year old bro to my version of church and so I developed religiously fine.

At kindergarten - my "teacher" kept calling me "G*d D@mn you kid". The first time I heard it, it sorta sounded like "Good Done you kid" and I thought she was giving me a praise, so I said: "Thank You". :-) ... Innocence is incapable of hearing swear words. ... When it comes to swear words and naiveté, it's usually the second, or even the third time around before you come away with a truly memorable experience. ;-)

It's kind of a joke in my family. My first word was "Sh*t" and I would stamp my foot when I said it, exactly like my Mother did. I really had no religious desires until my friends in middle school invited me to go to church with them.

I reported as my sister a dumb, stupid b@st@rd in front of my mom. i did no longer know it replaced right into a swear be conscious (for sure, or i might have used it exact). After my mom's handprint wore off my face, she asked me the place in the international I heard that be conscious, and and that i informed her I heard it each and every of the time while she watched her VHS tape of "Police Academy". i replaced into particular she might experience to blame...yet she did no longer... she stated I nevertheless deserved it for calling my sister dumb and stupid.
