That's a very good question.
Maybe it bothers them, because it convicts them.

I am a Christian, have friends of many other religious beliefs, including atheists and agnostics and we are not at each others throats at all.
We respect the fact that we have chosen to believe differently, but that does not have to affect our friendship at all, of course there is some maturity and acceptance involved, maybe some people on here don't have that.
I have better and more important things to do with my life and my limited time on earth that fight over religious beliefs. These types of discussions have lead to and are still leading to most of the unrest and war in the world, which obviously haven't taught us anything in all the years of humankind.
We can only try to all work together in order to improve things for all of us.
Have a good day.

It is very difficult for people of such fervent beliefs, that are so opposite, to not be unhappy with the others beliefs. Who would be happy with someone who believes your beliefs are without merit. The best you can expect is a cool civility. I am not an athiest, but I believe a lot of athiests are actually more spiritual than they portray themselves as. I can have interesting conversations with them.

I do not think anyone is at anyone's throat.
The atheists are trying to liberate the religious people from being fanatical and narrow-minded;
And the religious people are trying to get more members into their club because they are not sure if they are right and feel safety in numbers.
Why is there only one religion for Atheists called atheism but many religions for religious people?
Why do religious people kill persons of other religions, (war of crusades, of Akbar, of the Hindu and Buddhist people against other religions, etc) while there is no war among Or between the atheists?

I agree with you. I am a christian but don't convict people who are not. That is not my place to do so. But in defense of some Christians that do, I think alot of Christians on here, get fed up with the rude sarcastic comments they get for answers from atheists, etc.. When In all actually the question isn't even directed toward them to answer. I figure everyone has their own right to believe what they want to. I try not to judge or condemn anyone because I know that isn't right. Jesus told us to love everyone!!
Be Blessed!!
EDITED: ATTACHING A LINK TO SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN. I ASKED A QUESTION AND LOOK AT THE ANSWER I GOT THAT WASN'T EVEN DIRECTED TOWARDS THAT PERSON.

I agree 100% with you. My personal opinion is that neither athiests nor christians who argue with each other are very comfortable in their overall beliefs. If they were then they would take comfort in knowing the truth. It seems to me that if someone was 100% confident in their beliefs then they would be so much the wiser to to live what they believe. But, people get scared at what they don't feel confident in and they have to bicker one with another in order to boost their choice in what they believe.

Unfortunately, Some Christians do make mistakes. I've done it myself... We're all human. But thank God that we can be forgiven. But we shouldn't nag other people, the only thing that does is turn them off to you and your religion.
I can't speak for atheist's. But I'm sure they do their share of nagging. which also turns people off to their religion (oh, wait... they don't have one, but they sure want to push whatever they have on people) Oh, well. The Bible does say to lead a quiet peaceable life and not to worry about what other people are doing. I'm sure that Christians are just worried about people going to hell, but do it the wrong way.
I hope what I said made sense. God Bless.

Because Christians think atheists are lost from the grace of God, and atheists think Christians are simply (mentally) lost. Some of us want to help the other side, others want to mock the other side. Some want to persecute or outlaw the other side. Its just human nature to compete against each other.

Atheists pick on Christianity the most because they feel that conviction in their hearts, The Bible says Gods word is sharper than any two-edged sword, para phrasing here, it cuts all the way to the bone. We as Christians owe them the truth, this maybe the only place where they here the truth.

It is not so much of the people that are "atheist", it is more so satan. Satan knows that Jesus is the key to eternal life and whatever he can do to distract, detour, or completely stop a person from receiving Christ, he will do it and Christianity is centered around the definate grounds of Salvation which is what Christ brought to this earth. So, when you look at it that way, surely it is easier to understand, if not, feel free to contact me anytime by email. I will answer you. (It is not flesh against flesh but spirit against spirit and in the end, God will win) God bless you.

Because it is hardwired into our programming as children, don't except others differnet than yourself. Also bear in mind, my dear, that not everybody is open minded. This has caused wars, witch hunts, etc., etc., and unfortuantly probably will till the end of days. It makes us human.
