Here's my point. I knew atheists were going to use this argument, the "you can't prove a negative" argument.

Let me ask this question first before I refute this... which I will.

Are you sure that I cannot prove this argument flawed, so sure in yourselves that I can't, the same kind of sureness you have in your atheistic belief?

2007-10-19 15:54:25 · update #1

Here's the kicker... I never stated what most of you implied I stated...

Using the argument that you can't prove a negative is flawed thinking. Here's why:

I never stated, to PROVE to me your BELIEF in a lack of belief in God.

Naturally, when someone believes in something, there would need to be evidence of their belief, IN ORDER for their belief to be reasonable. I cannot prove God exists either, nor do I have to in order to BELIEVE. I only must offer EVIDENCE for this belief, in order to make it reasonable to believe in the claim that God exists. I have to go, I will talk more about this later on this answer. All of you please refer back to this question for tomorrow, my sister needs to get on.

It's not atheist's job, it's theists' job to prove his existence, end of story

Atheists do not believe in God and have no need to prove God’s existence one way or the other. It is impossible to prove a negative, therefore it is up to you to prove or offer any compelling evidence that there is a God. Most atheists and agnostics trust in the scientific method to find out how this universe works. This is not a belief but a process based on repeatable experiments, peer review, the ability to come to new or more refined conclusions with the analysis of new data, and most importantly the ability to be proven wrong. It is impossible to prove that God doesn’t exist because you have no evidence of God at all. The absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. That means just because we have not found any evidence for God’s existence, that doesn’t necessarily mean that there is no God. The fact that no one has ever found any evidence for God’s existence is a good indication that God’s existence is extremely improbable. You do not find very many atheists or agnostics debating this issue with each other because this is not what pulls us together as a group and we have more interesting things to talk about than the nonexistence of the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, or God. This however does not mean we are unwilling to debate this topic with someone who does believe.

Because there is no evidence of any belief, thats why it's a "belief" not a fact. Cool part is you can believe what you want and so can everyone else, without any proof at all. Which is exactly what you do when you say you believe in god/s of any kind. Not one single god/goddess/deity religion has ANY proof at all to conclusively prove their existence. You are the one who believes in your own particular god, it's up to you to provide evidence that your belief is fact.. All an Atheist is saying is that they don't just "believe" they want evidence of facts, if you want them to believe and say you are right then all you need do is provide your evidence to support YOUR claim. How exactly is an atheist supposed to prove they don't believe in a god that you claim exists without any evidence at all??? You can't prove that you don't believe in something that as far as evidence goes, doesn't appear to exist at all. However you can prove your god exists according to you so let's have it... until then anyone can say they "don't believe" because there is no evidence anyway.

Are you still at it???
Dude,... you're a moron!
"...cant find any evidence in their belief that there is no god???"
What the hell does THAT mean?
I'm telling you that I don't believe there is a god. You need evidence that I BELIEVE that??? I don't give a damn if you believe it or not. There is no evidence of god, and I don't believe in god.

You say later, "I cannot prove God exists either, nor do I have to in order to BELIEVE. I only must offer EVIDENCE for this belief, in order to make it reasonable to believe in the claim that God exists."

This is utter nonsense! Belief "in the CLAIM that god exists???" Hell, I believe in the "claim" that god exists... People make that claim here every minute. Doesn't make it true!! But you can't prove to me that you believe in god! What you're proving, is that you don't have the slightest clue about belief, evidence, or reason.

You're right about one thing,... you don't need evidence to support your claim that god exists, if you are indeed making that claim... I can't quite figure it out through the ridiculousness... But forgive the rest of us if we dismiss it as nonsense because we aren't as gullible and willing to accept mythology as truth...as you seem to be. But the only proof I have of that, is your retarded question... which is proof enough for me.

Atheists can't find evidence to prove there is no God because it's very difficult to prove you're not something.

Consider this: Accuse someone of being a liar. How can they "prove" they are not a liar? They can't.

And if you are inferring that because atheists can't prove there is no God, therefore, there is a God....dude, that is flawed logic.

Belief in God requires faith, not fact. Belief in no God requires faith, not fact.

Atheists cannot find any evidence for the Big Bang nor any other idea they have about the way the world came into being. The point is, neither can creationists. This is only a guess people make about the beginning of all things here. Just a guess is the best we have meaning we must have a lot of faith. We need a lot of faith to believe that God exists or that God does not exist.

To believe God exists, we have hope of a better life after death. To believe God does not exist, we would hope He does not exist because we know what would happen to us if He does exist when we do not believe.

I choose the faith that has better promises.

Atheism IS a religion with a faith. The faith of atheists is that there is no god or gods. That is faith or guess or theory, it is not a fact, therefore a belief, thus a religion.

And there is no evidence of your god or even your belief of this god. So this is a moot point and not even debatable. Also, You can not prove a negative. It can not be done. In other words YOU have to prove that there IS a god. This has not been done.

Stop playing word games. It's the last resort of a stuttering brain.

For the same reason that you cannot find any evidence that there is a god or gods or fairies or gnomes or little angels dancing on the head of a pin.

These things do not exist.

Can't prove a negative. You can not prove there is no Santa Clause, because proof of Santa would confirm Santa. Thus it is impossible to prove the negative. It is the responsibility of he who asserts the positive to prove said, id est, Santa exists, Leprachauns exists, God exists et cetera.

The same reason why theists can't find evidence in their believe that there is a god.

Ok, that makes no sense. By saying we can't find any evidence to non existence, that would have to suggest that the world is just overflowing with OBVIOUS evidence that would be seen by all. But it doesn't seem to be there, I see no evidence that it exists.
