I've always used a table knife to crack/cut an opening slightly above the middle of the soft boiled egg. Give it a light whack with the knife and then lift off the top. And then use a spoon to scoop it all out.
It's especially good on torn pieces of warm buttered toast!

Actually, this is a good question....I like them too and it always has bothered me.
2 Things----
One is (like the answer before me) Whack the top of the egg with a spoon or some other weapon and take it off.
The other is to buy a utensil made to do such a thing......There IS such a thing! I have one and use it.....It's a scissor type of thing with a hole just big enough to take the top off an egg...........Hard to describe.
Go into any kitchen type shop and ask the clerk for that. It's simple and cheap.
However, whacking the top off with a spoon works pretty well too.
Now that I think about it, the biggest problem taking the top off an egg is holding it and keeping it still. (Hot)..Try a butter knife and whack it on the top quarter. Dig it out with a spoon.
HEY!, the first time, make 2 extra to practice on. It's a cheap way to go.
I assume you have your timing down, that's the main thing........A cold egg right out of the fridge is around 3 and a half to 4 minutes. Fun to give it a test.

Oh, I've tried all these Helpful Hints but totally without success.
So now I put the dinner plate of the kitchen floor. Place the 4 minute egg on the plate.
With bare foot, step lightly on egg to crack it open.
Take plate to breakfast table.
Eat egg.
Spit pieces of shell onto the morning Times

There are a variety of these things about so I will explain mine.
It is egg shaped, well almost with a hole in the cent re to sit 1/2" down an egg and when you squeeze the end together a ring of teeth pierce the shell, and the end of the egg is removed.
edit.
I take it to mean you want it in an egg cup or have I failed to grasp what you mean or has so many of the others.

Or you could lightly tap it against the edge of a pot, or even use the edge of a spoon and put some force down the middle to get it to crack a bit and peel from there.

lightly tap it on the counter until you hear it crack then roll it firmly against the surface of the counter until you cracked the entire outside of the shell. It should just slip off afterward
my grandma taught me how to do it and it works every time for me

Put salt in the water. It makes it easier to remove the shell.
