I mean they don't even beleive in the devil!!! So how could some people say they worship the devil if they don't know anything about other religions other than their own?? I'm 15 and read a couple of books on Wicca and found out it's an interesting religion. But I'm waiting till I'm older to see if I want to convert to it.

P.S If I see any "your soul is tainted" or "the devil is clouding your thoughts" I will report you. I don't want any answers that say "you should follow Jesus your savior to help your soul". I will also report those.

I'm not really paraniod. I just hate it when we can't openly discuss Wiccan subjects on Yahoo without one person complaining that we are worshiping the devil or that we should stop and start saving our souls. I'm just wondering why some people just accept it as any other religion without people complaining.

I don't think that most people hate Wicca. I think that most people just don't know, or have never heard of Wicca. And even some Evangelical Christians, such as Bible Answer Man radio personality, Hank Hanegraaff, are now admitting that Satanism and Wicca are not the same thing. I think a lot of it is just honest ignorance, not maliciousness or prejudice. The best way to handle these sorts of things is, as Hank says, "with gentleness and respect." Keep a cool head, don't get upset. Just tell them the truth about your path as you know it, and don't automatically assume discrimination. The biggest problem we have in the Neopagan community is that we need to get over our persecution complex. Getting upset about it just makes us all look bad. There will always be people who disagree with us, and there will always be people who think that everyone but them is going to Hell. You can't change those people. But you can, in the way you respond to them, make a good example of yourself.

At your age, the best thing to do is to read. Research Wicca, and other Neopagan religions such as Druidism, Asatru, and Thelema, as well as other world religions such as Budhism, Taoism, and Hinduism. Keep an open mind, tempered with a healthy dose of skepticism. When you are 18, you can start exploring these things in more depth. There are a lot of good things to be said about the Neopagan movement, but like all things it isn't for everyone. If the path fits your feet, walk it. But that, you must decide for yourself.

What are you willing to accept as an answer?

I hope this will do.

I have never met anyone yet who hates Wicca. I am sure there are people who speak out against it but I have yet to meet any. I find it very ironic that in my fantasy trip through new age land I found countless Wiccans that live by the Reade. "An ye harm none except the Xian bastards." But precious few Christians that whine and cry about new agers.

a million) Because consistent with their Bible magic is unhealthy. Any style of magic. two) For the equal cause they do not like Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and many others...it isn't Christianity. Don't pass considering that Wicca is on my own in being on a few Fundies' hit record.

I think most people don't care about Wicca one way or the other. However, the ones who really don't care for it are extremely vocal.

Also, I have to point out that answers like the ones you're thinking of reporting aren't actually reportable, at least in my opinion. Why bring down your internal rating with Yahoo!Answers?

EDITED TO ADD: Re: "hate" versus "misunderstood"... consider this one of your first lessons. Words have power; this is a concept that is central to Wiccan practice. We should choose and use them carefully.

Best of luck on your path.

Dear,

paganism, Is a practice which is sacred in its real form. What they practice is basically a process of combination of so called "Kundalini" in ancient Sanskrit.

So, As i told you it brings so called psychic abilities to a manifested "Jiva" or Soul. and after this many people gets distorted in these abilities and start using it for fulfilling there own desires.

This is very close to my heart, though i do not follow it. There are some ancient Sanskrit scriptures, from which these practices and religions are born, I can give you the names... because whether you become bad or good that is decided by Lord, and everything proceeds strictly at his will.

But it is very difficult and needs extremely high levels of obedience. The first step will be controlling your "Prana" or Life-Air, and establishing yourself in pure "Sattva" or "Pious Mode of Mind" and attaining "Vairagya" or "Intense desire for desire-less-ness and finally being totally desire-less" by knowing the true nature of matter and form whom it proceeds and how it dissolves.

After attaining all this you will be able to see the manifestation of "Prakriti" in its true form, and you will be able to respect it. This "Prakriti" also has a master, who in ancient Sanskrit is called "Shiva" and by Many Many other names.

So this "Prakriti belongs to this Master" .. and all procedures derived form ancient scriptures which helps in The above defined understanding process is the Base of Pagan.

I know that Wicca is a cute baby of Pagan, but i do not have much knowledge about it, but as you can be sure, that some part of this is derived.

There is nothing that is wrong, it is just a path to Godhood, and there are many, but one should leave desires before following any path for that matter because otherwise, he will not be able to reach the destination, and he will get diverted with the powers that he gets while traveling.

Also, there is one more sect , in ancient India and other parts, whcih practice a much more stronger dosage, but they are very few and HIGHLY difficult to find. I do not wish to give there names to you or anyone.

May Lord protect you , and May his Divine rays always make things visible to you, in there true form.

Most people don't hate Wicca. Some people do. Most don't care. This sense is perpetuated by people saying "Why do people hate Wicca so much?" and taking individual cases and talking about them like they are epidemics. If you walk into a conversation expecting everyone to hate you, you will almost assuredly hear something that will offend you...either because you're paranoid, or because your accusations and over-defensiveness has annoyed people.

Human beings tend to hate (fear I would say) what is different, or what is "against" their believes.

I may dare to say that "people" don't hate wiccans (or any religion, color, politics view, sexual tendency, monetary status, even being a single parent) for the fact of being "different".

Thankfully there are still people with open mind and heart who will not see the person as a "labeled" but as a human being as we all deserve to be treated.

A lot of people "hate" it because all they know of it is obnoxious loud people who dress weird and like to get a rise out of people by announcing whenever a group is gathered that they are witches and the goddess is on their side.

they don't know jack about Wicca, just about people who claim to be Wiccan, and since they hate them...they think they hate Wicca.

People hate what they don't understand. Wicca is not the only religion that is hated. Anything that is considered pagan or actually anything that is not their idea of Christianity is bashed on here(they even condemn the Catholics to hell). You just have to move past it and realize that their opinions don't matter.

People fear what they do not know. They label things as they have been told by their leaders and teachers. They learn from TV, movies, fictional stereotypes, etc rather than thinking for them selves. Ignorance is everywhere, at the top of the long list sits religion and politics; we have to battle throughout our lives. All you can do is teach yourself and surround yourself in wisdom and knowledge to be prepared.
