Christians do not need dead people or celibate "Fathers" to be their intercessors - only Catholics do! Christians have only one intercessor before God - His Name is Jesus Christ! Just as the first "Pope", Simon Peter, was a married man (Jesus healed his mother-in-law), the "Virgin Mary" was *not* virgin-born and her "Assumption" wasn't even observed as a Catholic feast until the Nineteenth Century! As others have already said, and as is recorded in the Bible (at least in the *Protestant* one), Jesus had younger (half-)brothers and sisters! If a Catholic priest, cardinal, bishop, monk, or whoever confirms what is "seen" by some peasant girl at Fatima, or Lourdes, or by a "good" Catholic ton a piece of toast in Louisiana or someplace, you can be assured that the Catholic "faithful" will "see" that same vision! The study of psychology confirms this sort of "group think"! In other situations, it might be called, "mass hysteria" or "mob rule"!
Are you aware that the first person who "saw" the missles that the Soviet Union was shipping to Cuba in October, 1962, was President John F. Kennedy? A lot of other people then also "saw" these missles. How could they *not* have seen them, since the Commander-in-Chief "saw" them? I was in the United States Army Intelligence School (USAINTS), Fort Holabird, Baltimore, Maryland, from Nov., 1961 to Feb., 1962. Part of the training for our Military Occupational Speciality (MOS) of Military Intelligence Analyst was photo-intelligence, the study of aerial photographs to determine what was actually shown in such pictures. Since satellite technology was not yet even in its infancy in the early 1960s, this aerial photography was conducted via military reconnaissance aircraft, like the U-2, piloted by Francis Gary Powers. The only objects visible in these photographs of Soviet ships were canvas tarpaulins covering objects which may or may *not* have been missles. It would have been quite easy for objects to have been arranged under thse tarps so that they would appear to be missles. The quality of aerial photographs in the early 1960s was quite grainy and could not begin to compare to the digital photos taken by the satellites of today!
Hey, "Midge": No Christian disputes that Mary lived approximately 2000 years ago or that she was seen by many people during her physical lifetime on earth! *My* mother lived for 96+ years and was seen by many people during her lifetime; but if anyone claims to have seen her after September, 2002, the month and year she died, I would either have to question his or her veracity or tell them they only *thought* they saw her, or question what medicines they were taking or ask them if they had been drinking something stronger than Coca-Cola!

God is love, and watches over each and every human being on Earth to make sure he or she has a happy, successful life. This is kind of strange though, since the central doctrine of Christianity is that all humans must live a life dominated by guilt and fear and that they must pray forgiveness from God every day from creating them. Unfortunately, God's Earth-shattering powers of supreme might are easily thwarted by people not believing in Him, so He cannot make some people happy. He is best known for creating the universe, forgiving our sins, and deciding who wins the Super Bowl.

because they are the only ones that believe in her and think that she did it all. Catholics believe she healed people - not true, they believe she brought people back from the dead - not true, they also believe that she washed how peoples sins -not true & how?, they believe she did miracles - not true, they believe that she died for everybody's sins - definitely not true.
Here is a History lesson to all catholics (write me if i'm wrong) Jesus is the only way, he is the only one that could do all the miracles, heal, washed people sins away. U have to go through him to get saved and believe in him to come into your heart to be saved as well as repent. Then God will save you. To all catholics: WHo died on the cross at calvary between the 2 thieves? It wasnt mary because she was kneeling at the feet of jesus while he was on the cross. So it apears to me that u catholics got some explaining to do.

Do we know for sure Mary only appears to Catholics? If so, how do you, presumably know this?
Jesus never forces His will upon those who are unwilling to accept Him. Why should we expect any different from Mary?
The Truth of the matter is, Catholics are more apt to recognize Mary when they "see" her because they are not busy trying to diminish her role in Salvation History.

One of the Blessed Virgin's jobs is to lead people back to her Son.
St. Paul teaches that the Church is the Mystical Body of Christ.
Why would she want to lead people away from the Church?
Not only is it logical that she appears ONLY to Catholics (which include several branches, Eastern Orthodox, etc.), but IT IS A SIGN TO OTHERS of where the true Mystical Body of her Son lies.
Why do Eucharistic miracles occur only in the Catholic Church:

Why do the bodies of certain Catholic saints remain inccorrupt for centuries

These are signs......come join us.
We will keep the light on for you. You will find it lit in Our Lord's Sanctuary indicating that He is truly present in the
Holy Eucharist waiting for your return.

At Fatima, over 40,000 people ... communists ... atheists ... jews ... witnessed the authentic miracle that accompanied her final appearance there.
You can still read the accounts that appeared in secular newspapers of the time.
The same goes for Lourdes and many other such events.

Most onther Christians don't believe in saints, and the Virgin Mary is a saint. Christians believe in the Virgin Mary, but they don't worship her.

Because Catholic faith emphasizes the role of the Virgin Mary to a much greater extent then most other Christian denominations, so God sometimes makes himself known through Mary.
God makes his Word known to people in the way that works best for them, and no one way is better or worse than the other.
and lose the religious intolerance expressed in the previous posts. No one church is better or worse than another in God's eyes; the churches just meet the differing needs of their adherents.

Why is it only Catholics get possessed? If one has Christ in ones life, there is no room for demons. They can only TEMPT you, not control you or take you over.
Ever hear of a Pentecostal getting demon possessed?
"HEY MA! BETTER GO CALL PREACHER JONES CAUSE LITTLE SUZY HERE'S DONE GONE AND GOT DEMON POSSESSED ON US!"
To MADEITMINE: Mary wasn't a CATHOLIC!! SHE WAS A JEW! Biblical ignorance is such a sad thing to see.
