Pollution is clearly a negative regardless of what a person's beliefs are regarding global warming. It has been found that air, water, and land pollution do lead to an increase in disease so why is there such a resistance to pollution controls. This increase in disease leads to an increase in health care costs which in turn affects us all via high insurance rates. A better environment not only makes the planet a nicer place to live it also makes it a healthier place to live. In turn, it also makes it a cheaper place to live due to decreased use of the health care system. Curious to hear viewpoints regarding these statements.

Excellent timing for this question. I just watched a documentary last night regarding a new field of study called Epigenetics; "the next Genome Project".

Basically they were studying how environmental factors cause genetic changes (epi = above, they are looking for causes above and beyond the chromosomes from mom and dad for genetic changes) and they found environment factors can create switches that turn genes on and off.

And they found that environmental factors can positively or negatively affect your offsprings health five generations into the future.

Now imagine what pollution has done, is doing and will do to your great, great, great grandchildren.

Whether or not the pollution is related to Global Warming, there are very strong reasons not to pollute.

Everything changes. Plates (continets) are moving. Did you know the Moon moves 2 inches a year away from our planet. One day the Moon will just fly off from it's orbit. Weird?

The Global warming is also caused by overpopulation. People as organizms produce heat. When you sleep under a blanket, have you ever noticed that it gets really hot because the blanket doesn't let the heat that being produced by your body to escape? There lot's of us, and it's not enough to make 5 babies, we also buy 3 cars, pour concrete in our backyard, dump toxins, smoke and so on.

Pollution? Hell yeah pollution. Go to LA and you'll see pollution. Also, if you go to Russia for example you'll think America is a clean and innocent bastard. All poor countries like China due to lack of money, bribes, corruption, polute much much much more. If you get a chance to see how they dump waist in rivers you'd just want to go back home ASAP.

Newer versions of viral diseases are appearing every day and our health care system is not geared up for such eventualities. Prevention is better than cure.
