I have done both. I've found over the years that both have there good and bad points.
I go with real butter, it tastes much better..Life is too short to eat margarine.

I use Butter. It is a saturated fat, but it is not hydrogenated like margarine and it tastes much better. Both are bad for you. Olive oil is a better choice for some things, but for baking, butter is the only way to go. I would rather not bake than use margarine.

Butter is healthier

AND I eat butter.

I simply will not eat margarine or any butter substitute. Why?Because there isn't any substitute for butter - the real thing!

Equal amounts of butter and margarine contain the same amount of fat. However, the fat in margarine is less saturated and vegetable fats (found in margarine) contain no cholesterol. (NOTE: Regardless of which you select, the total amount that you use is more important than which one you choose.)
