I have to do a community service project for a school club. Some ideas I've been thinking of were doing a paper drive and a canned food drive. If I chose to do both of those, how would I go about advertising them and actually doing it. The school would let me use the parking lot, but I don't know much beyond that. Does anyone have any other service project ideas? I'm already volunteering at a soup kitchen for another club, and I don't want to do both in the same place.

Don't put flyers in mailboxes, thats against the law ( i co-own a flyer company) , leave em on doorknobs, windshields at malls, walmart, etc. post it on the internet sites like craigslist.......join www.freecycle.com in ur local area and post that ur having a fundraiser and need items for a garage sale/parking lot sale.....you'll get ALL kinds of stuff from freecycle.....look on craigslist for free stuff......look in the paper for free stuff.....then sell it all at ur sale. offer like 10% off purchase with 3 canned good donations, clothing donation, etc.

You can advertise for the paper drive and canned food drive through your school. Send home flyers with the kids through the office. You can also advertise in the newspaper they would probably allow you to advertise free since it is a good cause. Drop flyers in mailboxes in the area - you can have your friends help with this. Also, put up posters near the school at least a week in advance so people driving by would see them.

You could work on a Saturday at voluntary organisations such as St. Vincent de Paul, Trade Aid, Save the Children. These shops are always asking for volunteers.

Call a Nursing home and ask what they have for you to do, possibly read to people or play games with them.
