Give me a list of preferrential, NOT NECESSARILY ESSENTIAL, traits in a boyfriend/partner.

You should know that I am conducting this experiment with the utmost seriousness, and I really would like to find out more about the female mind, so please humour and enlighten me.

I am a very mature guy when it comes to women, no giggly little girls please, only intelligent women/young girls who are interested in real, serious men.

The crux of this question is I would like to find out what you ladies would consider positive traits in males.

Sarah that is great, and I appreciate you for the input in the area of aesthetics.

However, I am more concerned with what sort of man you like in terms of personality, character, intelliegence, determination, sophistication etc etc

Did you read my last question about how I wear fake tan and have wax and gel in my hair?

I am no metrosexual, I am manly inside, but I like my hair to look sharp and the tan makes me look healthier

Honesty, a sense of humor, a listening ear, a willingness to maintain a conversation, leading (wearing the pants), and just showing love in ways other than buying things.

the traits that I would personally look out for is

Charisma, Character, GSOH and most importantly caring.

I think the 4 listed above are the most important ones as it determines if you will get along and obviously in a relationship there needs to be an attraction but I feel charm beats physical looks any day. I mean you could have a drop dead gorgeous man but what use is that if he can't make you smile. I mean looks are a paramount because I don't particularly like the idea of the brown paper bag effect in bed.
Moving on swiftly...

The turn off would be arrogance and ignorance. I find it rude if a male spends more time floating his boat and checking himself out every ten seconds in a mirror. It's not good when a man takes longer to get ready than me. (Then again I don't take that long)... However, a man is suppose to be rough and ready looking... not pampered to the extreme.

The quality in a man is when he can make you smile when feeling down and telling you things you didn't know about yourself... including when you have bits stuck in your teeth... every little counts... for that split second of embarrassment would be forgotten in a day but imagine someone else pointing it out and him laughing at you? I don't think that will go down to lightly...

I think worst thing for a man to do is have or make broken promises... maybe it's me but I rememebr every single broken one.... to be fair there was only one...

Here we go bucko - we girls need a man who gives us the impression he would fight a million dragons if need be to save us, add to that a touch of humour, not too sarcastic though, a certain amount of intelligence, again, not too much and knows how to turn heads with his style, can look cool on the dance floor, could support us financially if we needed it, could make us swoon by just kissing us and gives off vibes that he would love kiddies if they came along - if he can drive too that is a bonus!!!!

Please, we girls like the idea of the new age man but we still want our men to be men - strong, masterful, leader - as long as you let us gals get our own way and make us feel as though we are the best thing you've ever seen in your life we don't really care - please though, a word of warning, we don't really go for the whole fake tan, plucked eyebrows and too much hair gel thang....this just makes us think Poser!

Human nature dictates that us women need caveman - regardless of how we may protest we don't. A slow, smooth s@ag is okay but throwing us down and taking us hard and rampant is better!!!! Catch my drift!

No, I think that you honestly want to know. So, despite my exasperation with this question that all boys ask, I will humor you.

Positive Traits in a Boy (my opinion):

Funny
Outgoing
Nice (like to little kids, or animals)
Polite/Gentlemanly (like opening doors)
Dresses well (not necessarily expensive, just not sloppy)
Discreet
Intelligence (not asking me to define every other word I use)
Similar Music Tastes to Mine
Doesn't make things awkward (some boys just leave awkward silences all the time)
Takes dating for real (not like in middle school, ugh)
Fun to be around
Serious (can be serious, I mean)
Straightforward (no head games!)
Sense of Humor
Sense of humor about sex, drugs, etc. (but NOT lewd or crude)
Openness
Respect for Women (sounds like a cliche, but seriously.)
Consistent
Understanding (the way I think and talk)
Can show emotions (not like emo, just admit that you're mad, or miserable, i'm not asking you to pour your soul out!)
Willingness to answer questions (I ask a lot of them)

Thats the main ones, I suppose.
Now, if you asked for a list of traits NOT wanted in a guy, it would be much longer....

Keep in mind, I am only 14 and this list is based on things I've noticed in middle school, and high school, boys. So it probably differs a lot from a full grown womans....

A spark. That little electic buzz you get when you meet someone special is the start.
To build on that you need integrity. Repect for each other is a great basis, it helps with all other things. A sense of humour helps both parties get through the tough times.
Of course love. When your partner feels enough for you that they will put your needs before there own, I think it truely shows how much they love you. This should go both ways, obviously, and that shows a great partnership.
I hope this helps with your research.

What i want in a man is someone who is funny, kind, honest( nobody likes liars), has a lot of the same things in common as me, smart( i like a guy who is smarter than i am), easy going( i hate drama), cute( but if I find someone who has all the above traits then appearances truly dont matter to me).

You will not get answers from women on this question, because it's serious. They want opposites. An intelligent man who engages in frivolous conversation and pursuits. A kind, loving, gentle man, who is macho and full of adrenalin at the same time. A partner who views them as equals, but continues to take the role of provider.

Non of this is bad, but I'm telling you, women themselves don't know what they want.

Well i hate guys that are druggies....Its just so immature. Guys who do illegal stuff are just plain dumb. I like guys that are thin....dont have to be super muscular....just not outta shape. I like guys with brown hair and definately NOT DORKY! Its a turn off. I like guys that are smart but not know-it-alls or dorks. Guys that dress nice but not super fashonable. I think russian guys are really cute. I wont date blacks just because they are unnatractive to me.
