Im a permanent resident living in the US for the past 35 years. Im planning to retire and go back to my native country. I was wondering if I should give up my green card and just get a visitors visa to travel to the US on vacation or just apply for US citizenship?

You may want to look into your Social Security benefits. If you move overseas and are not a US citizen, you may not be entitiled to any retirement benefits you have been paying into for your working years.

i would opt for citizenship. My spouse faced a similar issue. It may be productive to seek out a financial advisor/ lawyer to ask for advice. There are pros and cons depending on where you are going.

Why bother to come back here. You've already enjoyed the best of this country, without committing yourself to become a citizen. You are just as bad as the illegals who sneak into this country. You were supposed to assimilate into our society and culture.
