I am Pagan and I have two tattoos -- one is of the Goddess Persephone and the other is of the God Pan. I consider tattoo to be a sacred art, an offering to my gods, an expression of faith, and a commemoration of a period of my life. If the body is the Temple, then tattoo is the stained glass and frescoes.

I don't have any tattoos, but it has nothing to do with my Christian beliefs. It's more of a personal concern regarding the changes skin undergoes with the passing of time and the possibility of a cute little guppy turning into a sagging, wrinkled, faded whale on some body part... nothing against the practice or those who choose to be inked.

As a young man I really wanted one, but luckily I never got one. Most tattoos today are born of ignorance and not tribal rites or religions.
I still lean towards it being a sin as it attempts to glorify yourself or beautify yourself and in essence telling God he did not create you beautiful.
Having said that I will also echo what I read in some others posts and say that you can be forgiven of it and like most sins you will have to bear/bare the scars the rest of your days.

I do!
I'm a Believer, & have 14.
Whenever anyone sys anything about my tattoos, I refer them to this:
1 Samuel 16:7 (New International Version)
New International Version (NIV)
Copyright © 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

I am a Christian, and I will never have a tattoo.
Leviticus 19:28 (NASB, New American Standard Bible)
'You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves: I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:28 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
You are not to make gashes on your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves; I am the LORD.
I know this was given to the Israelites, I think it still applies to us Christians today on our moral values.

Interesting question considering the Jews were tattooed with numbers during the holocaust.

I'm a Christian and I have 2 tattoos - that are unrelated and non-religion. I think the same ideas go for piercings (some people think you should keep your body pure - and maybe they're right) - but I don't think there's a problem as long as you Believe. :)

Do temporary tatoos count? I sometimes buy them and I plan on buying one with a Naruto Cursed Seal next.
