I have an old laptop that runs win98. I need files from it transferd to my new machine that runs winxp.My question is that if I save my files i.e txt and jpeg on a floppy disk and try and upload them to my new windows laptop will it work????

yes .. if they fit on a floppy and if ur new laptop has a floppy .. u can transfer them with whatever media u can save them to ..

Yes, but before you copy them to the new machine always right click the floppy and select scan with (your virus program), Viruses that have no effect in 98 can be seriously destructive on the newer NT based OSes.

txt and jpg/jpeg files will still work...
but if you'll transfer MS office files... xp will most probably change/update those files to the current MS Office version.


you really don't have to worry about copying/moving files from old pc to a new one (xp/vista). your new computer would most probably have all programs that can still open files created from old OS.

Yes, this should work without any issues as the file types are common and still in general use.

Yeah, it should. If it is just .txt and .jpg you shouldn't have a problem.
