You'll need to clip their wings, even if you don't want to. This is the only other way to keep them from flying away other than being more careful when opening and closing the cage. How did they get lost? You should have closed all doors and windows first, unless it is an outdoor aviary. Even still you need to be more careful if you want to breed budgies successfully.
Wing clipping is completely harmless to the bird so don't worry about hurting it. Just clip about half way on the secondary flights (the flights from the body to the middle of the wing) on one wing. This won't completely stop them from flying, but it will slow them down and they won't get very far...it'll help with you catching them at least.
Good luck :]

mi bird flew away once too- we never really got it back- but just try this: first of all, did u find out, in the 1 1/2 months u were with it, wat it likes?? like millets, or a special treat??? if so, put out that treat where it can see it, and if possible put it's cage there too, letting ur other birds sit in a cardboard box, or in another cage. on a nice day, or nice enough for birds to be flying around, stand outside near the cage see if it recognizes u. about the treat, if it doesn't have a fav., just put normal bird food. and about ur other birds, if u don't want, don't clip their wings, just get them some other fun things that can keep them occupied so they don't fly away when u open the door or window, and if possible, don't leave the door or window open 4 2 long. if ur gonna cut their wings, be careful while cutting the babys' wings. do u have all of them in one cage, or are they allowed 2 go outside their cage, like, in ur home??? if not, make sure the cage is big enough and spacious, so when they start to grow their wings, and fly around in the cage, they don't hit each other. if u leave the cage doors open the tiniest bit, a bit enough for them to put their beaks under and open the door, they can still get out, so make sure that their cage doors are fully closed when u do close them.

How are your birds escaping?
If this is an outdoor aviary, you can get double doors so that if they do go out the door, they can't fly away.
Check the aviary thoroughly for any holes or gaps. If it is old, it may be time to replace it.
If this is indoors, always make sure the room is closed off and no doors are open.
If they are in a cage and not an aviary, you can clip the wings (which, by the way, -is not- cruel and doesn't fully stop them from flying), but that is your choice.

Either make sure all windows and doors are completely closed or clip the wings. Ideally both so the birds don't fly into a window or mirror and hurt themselves. The wing feathers do grow back if you're worried about permanently hurting the bird.

Go to a pet store or breeder and learn to Clip their wings. This is very important because in the house they can hurt themselves, ceiling fans, boiling water on the stove, etc...

It requires a lot of patience. Maybe first throw them seeds to eat. Do that several times till the bird get use to your existence. And maybe eventually it'll let u come close enough.

If you are going to let your bird fly free in the house, you must be very very careful, in opening the door, to go out. Once they get outside, they get confused and can't find their way back. They usually are then killed by other birds or some other predator. Please be more careful with your birds.

You should be able to take them to the vet, or may be to the pet shop and they should be able to tell you how to clip their wings so that they can't fly away.
