Both my kids gave up naps by then. Yes, they got cranky a little in the late afternoon. And occasionally, rarely, they would fall asleep around 4:00 b/c they played so hard they couldn't help it and then would be up 4ever at bedtime. So, I tried to time my errands for after lunch... if we were in the car for 15 minutes, they'd doze a little... just enough to get them over the hump, and they'd go to bed on time. I found that it was easier to deal with "a little cranky" in the late afternoon -- just be sure to have dinner on time or early... than to fight for an hour after lunch (forcing the nap) them struggle again at bedtime.... Kids are all different. I know people who's kids took 3 hr naps until age 4. Mine NEVER napped that long... ever. I worried if they were still asleep after an hour and-a-half to two, max. Your child is the best indicator.

How long are her naps? Maybe she is napping to long or too late? I would try and make the naps shorter and earlier in the day if you can help it. If not try and wear her out. Go for a walk or a bike ride after dinner, then take a warm bath with lavendar.

I would start to shorten her naps. Maybe just by 15-20 min for the first week, then keep decreasing. My 2 1/2 sleeps about and hour and half and still goes to bed by 9:30. You could also try to get her up a little earlier in the morning. Good Luck!

My son is 3 and is the same way. I can't let him take naps anymore, if I do he is up til 2 or 3 in the morning. So I get them up at 8ish.......no naps for him, his 15 mo old sister gets naps and then they are in bed by 8-8:30 p.m

A three year old should have a "rest time" every day, but need not nap. Many 2's give up their naps. Give her some books and insist that she "rest" and look at books for 30 minutes after lunch (set a timer for her, if you like), but then, let her get up so she can be in bed by 8PM later.

if she naps too late this will make her want to stay up way too late at night. try to set nap time no later than 1pm. between 12 and 1 is perfect for 1 hour at the most if they sleep too long than they will not want to go to bed later, my kid goes thru this too, so just establish a set nap time kids need consistancy this will put her in a scedual/

I had this problem so what I did with my son at 2.5 was cut out the naps and he would go to bed at 7:30pm. It was great because he would just zonk out cause he was tired and my husband and I got to have some alone time. He slept til 7:30am so he got plenty of sleep to help him get through the day with out a nap. Something for you to consider.

She may be ready to give up her nap. You might try putting her to bed a half hour early and seeing how she does without the nap but going to be a little earlier.

Let her play around and run it out. This will make her loose energy and when the time for sleep comes she'll be right out. If you let her take a nap especially if its a couple hours before bedtime, she'll never go to sleep.

Let her decide. If she isn't sleepy she wont go in to take a nap. You will have a fight on your hands. Let her run it out and she will fall asleep on her own. Good Luck. Blue (the cat) says she will take a nap when she is all tuckered out. But he naps all the time.. Lucky cat
