Scientology is the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, others and all of life. The Scientology religion comprises a body of knowledge extending from certain fundamental truths. Prime among these:
Man is an immortal, spiritual being. His experience extends well beyond a single lifetime. His capabilities are unlimited, even if not presently realized — and those capabilities can be realized. He is able to not only solve his own problems, accomplish his goals and gain lasting happiness, but also achieve new, higher states of awareness and ability.
In Scientology no one is asked to accept anything as belief or on faith. That which is true for you is what you have observed to be true. An individual discovers for himself that Scientology works by personally applying its principles and observing or experiencing results.
Through Scientology, people all over the world are achieving the long-sought goal of true spiritual release and freedom.

Scientology is a body of beliefs and related practices created by American pulp fiction author L. Ron Hubbard in 1952 as an outgrowth of his earlier self-help system, Dianetics.[1] Hubbard later characterized Scientology as an "applied religious philosophy" and the basis for a new religion.[1] The body of beliefs and related techniques of Scientology not only encompasses a spiritual rehabilitation philosophy and techniques but it also covers topics such as morals, ethics, detoxification, education and management. The first Church of Scientology was founded in 1953.[2]

From what I saw when I checked it out its mostly self-help courses. The rates were reasonable so I took a couple of courses. Communications and Better Studying. Good stuff. I still use them decades later.
I didnt hear or see any of the funny stuff people post here about it. But then again, apparently all of that is supposed to be "secret stuff known only to the topmost levels" so I guess it makes sense that I never saw it and no scientologist I talked to ever brought it up. :-)

began by making use of L. Ron Hubbard as 'self help approach' stated as Dianetics (he began out writing SiFi books and then wrote self help books) ...it right into a grew to become "faith".....many people (Christians, atheist, agnostics, former contributors, ect) say it relatively is the perfect 'textual content fabric-e book' occasion of a non-violent Cult (concept some contributors have reported actual and emotional abuse) the concern-loose concept is: throughout your and previous lives you have had unfavourable reports which you won't be able to bear in mind, those repressed reports 'carry you back'.... via particular counseling stated as "Dianetics" (presented by making use of the CoS. for a nominal fee) you are able to 'technique/manage' those undesirable reports....as quickly as there all dealt with, you are able to go beyond to a "intense user-friendly of life" ....the top....

It's a made-up religion founded by a mediocre science fiction writer. A testament to the idea that some people will believe anything.

a religion founded by Elron Hubbard (unsure of spelling). Its supposed to be about 65 million yrs ago, a galactic lord ruled the galaxy and he was named Xinu or something, and he wanted to wipe out peoples souls, so he thrown out people into a volcano or something and they died and the spirits tried to escape, but Xinu places soul catchers in the skies and were trapped forever, until they could find life to attach themselves on. And that is y we have fears and stuff apparently!
