I have only had Ford vehicles in the past- Escape, Explorer, Freestyle. This time, I am thinking of getting a Nissan Pathfinder. I have had some problems with the wheel bearings and brakes on my Freestyle, and might want to get trade it. I have never owned a Nissan before. Any advice would be appreciated!

Father has owned both an Explorer and a Mercury Mountaineer which is just a fancier version of the explorer, and had more problems with those two vehicles than all the others in his whole life combined. Not only that, but all the problems occured with low mileage, he ended up selling both before they even reached 75K miles.
The Nissan Pathfinder is nice to look at and has a nice interior, but I have also heard of reliabilty issues with this vehicle as well. I would recommend looking at the Honda CRV and Pilot, as well as the Toyota Rav4, 4Runner, and Highlander, also the Acura MDX and RDX, all of which are far superior to either of the two you listed.
If you go with Nissan, I would recommend checking out the Murano, which is a lot more luxurious looking than the Pathfinder.
Good Luck

I think the Pathfinder is a better choice. The pathfinder has a pretty powerful V6 and V8, nice interior and I think the resale value is a lot higher than the Explorer. Plus, Nissans are pretty reliable.

Nissan is a great company. Choose the Pathfinder, hands down.

Explorer, buy American, definitely easy to get used parts cheaper, worked on, more of selection. Nissan used to be Datsun which were junk except for the 240Z.

I would suggest you get the NISSAN PATHFINDER. It may be an interesting experience try a car you've never tried before! =)

For reliability and future trade-in value, go with the Nissan.
