Will a long neglected child in Miami finally get the nurturing attention she so desperately needs?
What do you think of the concept of cause and effect in regard to paying it forward.
If you give the clerk in your supermarket a hard time will she go home and kick her dog or call her overly-sensitive eight-year old daughter stupid, possibly spiraling that child into a lifetime of low self-esteem, abuse and addiction?

For example, I recently had a patient tell me that the only thing that kept her from jamming an overdosed needle of heroin into her veins was that a perfect stranger saw her sitting for hours in the park and brought her a hot lunch and a cup of coffee. Seemingly, a random act of kindness made all the difference for her.

I think there is something to it. We affect one another constantly. We can either choose to be positive or negative...both will have a domino effect. This is why practicing random acts of kindness has become so popular. It is seen time and again it produces more good energy with every person it touches.

I am from the deep south in a city where everyone smiles at strangers. But I once went to NYC and quickly found out that if you smile at a stranger they immediately think you either want to rob them or you want to be picked up.
I don't know how it is in Denver.
I believe if you let cars in during traffic, the same thing comes around to you another time.
So you may have an idea there.

You might be smiling at me!!!! I think that if you are a happy person you notice the happy things in life. When you are a sad person you notice the sad things, a smile might briten a person for an instant but it wont change there overall personailty.

I believe in being kind. I do believe it has positive effects, because I've experienced it in my own life. A kind act from another person can change my down in the dumps mood in an instant.

Yes. I think paying it forward is pretty accurate. I mean, like anything, it'll have its exceptions, but generally speaking.
It's a butterfly effect, almost.
