Pangloss: Does the fact that you do not follow the four noble truths, the eightfold path and the five precepts mean you have no beliefs?
Explain to me what 1 of the 4 noble truths is, so that I can get a better understanding of what you believe in.

just some chick: You said, "It's not really a debate if we are just talking about why I have no beliefs."
You're right, it wouldn't be a debate, however, we aren't just talking about why you have no beliefs. My claim that I will soon make, is that you have no beliefs, even though you say you do. And I will prove to you that, either there is a God, or that you have no beliefs.

Corrosion: You believe your mother loves you. So you believe in the concept of love. Therefore you believe in the concept of morality. Who created this moral law that is instilled in you?
You believe I am quite uninformed. Under what basis do you claim this belief?

Ok, since people aren't understanding my question, I will make a more clear one that everyone can hopefully understand. Plus there are way too many people who answered this which I didn't expect. Please go to my next question that I'm about to type.

An atheist is not someone who has "no beliefs".
Atheists do not believe in any gods.
Try again.

The question seems rather awkward, almost as if you are equating having no beliefs with believing in no God. While in certain instances this may be true, in many it is not. Not all Nihilists are Atheists nor are all Atheists Nihilists. So you can't really debate why and Atheist has no beliefs when s/he does have beliefs, for example an Atheist, lacking belief in God, could perhaps have a belief in the law of gravity, which although cannot be proven as intrinsically true, has amassed a large amount of scientific evidence that is indeed true. Furthermore, this question could only be debated with a Nihilist.

Atheist literally refers to lack of belief in a god. a- not / theos- god. While some atheists don't believe in anything supernatural, complete lack of "belief" is not included in the definition and, in fact is not true.
For example, some Buddhists "believe" they can attain a spiritual nirvana, but do not believe in a god.
I do have beliefs, too - for example, I believe that people are inherently good, that evolution occurred, etc. These beliefs MAY take as much faith as believing in God, but I do not. I am an atheist.

I do have many beliefs, they are just not the same as yours. Does the fact that you do not follow the four noble truths, the eightfold path and the five precepts mean you have no beliefs?
Edit- The last of the Four Noble Truths states that the Way to eliminate craving (and thus suffering) is to follow the Eightfold Path ( right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration).

This place is called Y!A - it's not a debate channel - maybe you need to find some forums.
This place is called Y!A - you need to ask a question - you didn't.
The fact god does not exist is as important to me as the fact I don't play golf, collect stamps or frequent places where they play loud music late at night.
I don't follow delusions, illusions, invisible sky swoopers or any other unprovable thing that has no evidence to support it.
Obviously you have faith that such ridiculous mental conditions, stemming from something other than mental disease, exists.
Good luck with that.

I would be very interested in learning why you think that a person who does not believe in god therefore has no belief.
For example: I do not believe in god yet I do believe in the value of life. And, since it is a belief I do not have to prove it with hard evidence.
So how is it that I do not have any belief?

You realize that makes no sense and is completely idiotic right? We just don't believe in a god. That doesn't mean we don't believe in good, bad, love, hate, joy, passion, family, etc.
Its called "having a life". Do you have one? Or do you only think about your religion and nothing else? You must lead a sad little life if you do.

Quite simply, I have no belief in your God or any other deities because you have no evidence.
I do hold certain beliefs, such as the belief that gravity will still function when I wake up in the morning. Is this what you intended to suggest?

I have MANY beliefs. I just dont believe in any god/s .. simple as that.
I'm also a very spiritual person .. you dont have to believe in a god to be spiritual.
You dont believe in Zeus and hades .. or Mandela .. or the flying spaghetti monster.. well neither do I. in a way .. we only disbelieve 1 less god then you
now rephrase your question

I see your name is "Let's Debate". If you are not an atheist, and you want to debate, I am open. Let's start with a less inane question though... and I'm not into goofy semantic games. Why do you think there is a god, and what is a god?
