No, I will never join an armed force...I'm just curious about this question.

Yes you can, but you will need a British or Irish passport to do so (unlike the British Army).

Officially, you can lose your United States citizenship if you serve in another nation's military. However, that's just something they write in your passport. It's not done in practice, and the idea of putting it there is in case they ever want to take the citizenship away from a genuine traitor.

Definitely go Marines. The sense of belonging in the Marines is second to none, and the same goes for the pride in wearing the uniform. If you're looking for whoever will push you the hardest, the USMC is your answer. BUDs will push you hard for sure, but they will not stop you from quitting the instant you feel like you want to. Only in the Corps will you learn how to fight through even when you think you can't give it any more effort (which is the nature of being effective in combat), and I guarantee you the SEALS don't have anywhere near the tradition or history of the US Marines. I'm in a high-speed job with a really high attrition rate (Arabic translator) and we go all over the world, right to where the action is, not to mention that the starting salary for a translator when you leave the military is in the six digits, easy. If you want any more info, don't hesitate to write me an e-mail.

Well, prior to the U.S.'s entry into World War II, many American officers and pilots were given leave by the U.S. Air Force to volunteer for the RAF to help with the British war effort.

you can lose your citizenship if you enlist because you have to take an oath of loyalty to the uk, this opens up a world of legal trouble. you can go to france and enlist in the foreign legion without trouble because in the legion you dont take an oath to france just to the legion itself. i bet the british navy would not let an american enlist anyway

Yes you can, and it is not a betrayal because we aren't at war with them. Not sure on the dual citizenship.

It wouldn't be considered a betrayal to the US since the UK is a part of NATO and they pretty much do whatever the $#$() we tell them.
