Those tv Christian evangelists like Benny Hinn and such. I find it impossible not to think they're just out for money. Isn't it written in the Bible that it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven?

You don't really believe those televangelists believe all that stuff they spew do you?
They are masters of the sting and the scam - there's good money to be made from religion IF you can keep a straight face.

Benny is on the TEE vee at 3.30am most mornings in Oz.
I once heard him say: God told me to read this passage to you.
I reckon Benny is THE master of the game - no one can hold a candle to him.
It's the best comedy on TEE vee.

Charles Stanley and David Jeremiah are good teachers. People like you mention were written about by Peter under the unction of the Holy Spirit.

2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master, the One having bought them, and bringing upon themselves swift destruction. 2 And many will follow after their debaucheries, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. 3 And by covetousness they will exploit you with fabricated words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction will not sleep.

Yes, the Bible says that. Matthew 19 23Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth, it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

25When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and asked, "Who then can be saved?"

26Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Be careful not to stop at what you want to hear. Read the rest of the passage. God wants us to prosper (have things)

One example of the Lord's desire for us to prosper is:
Jeremiah 29:10-12 (New International Version)
10 This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

I agree...but there are a lot of elderly shut-ins that the evangelists know how to press their buttons. If you listen... they address their despair, loneliness, guilt, fears, hopelessness.

It is so sociopathic I can't stand to watch more than about 3 or 4 minutes before it turns my stomach. The big name ones rake in giant amounts of money.

I think people need to learn how to connect with God without having to have a wealthy tele-evangelist be their intermediary. Thanks for the opportunity to share feelings...I think our critical thinking skills are a match!

That is my BEST ANSWER!

I think there might be some good ones out there like charles stanley, but most of them are all for the money. you just have to very careful and make sure that what they are teaching is doctrinally sound. some are really talented at mixing lies in with the truth.

:) For a great website where you can listen to radio preachers for free, go to www.oneplace.com. There are good, solid bible teachers on here.

Eze 13:20 Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.

GOD doesn't like Fly away doctrines or beggers!

I like Bishop Jakes, Joyce Meyer, Billy Graham and John Hagee. The majority are out for money, money, money!!! Anyone who preaches about credit card debt and then at the end of the show turns around and sells their goods and accept "most major credit cards" are money grubbing double standard liars and cheats.

It's a good business model: selling empty words to weak-willed people who allow themselves to become hoodwinked into "contributing".
Maybe I'm in the wrong business!

I like Benny Hinn, Pat Robertson, Billy Graham, Charles Stanley and Fred Price. Yes, there are some who are out for the money and there are some good ones, too.
