Hi there,

I'm looking for some Bible passages that talk about humans being generally good or being born good, and the Bible page information (Ex. Genesis 3:4-7).

Thank you in advance!

There really are none. Many present day philosophies and worldviews claim the people are basically good and that bad or immoral behavior is the exception. The Bible states quite the opposite - that people are selfish and sinful as soon as they are able to express that kind of behavior.

The unending human propensity for hatred, violence, and evil will continue as we, the "righteous" haters will seek out and kill the "unrighteous" haters. An underlying spiritual cause of all this hatred is the only reasonable explanation of human depravity. Evolution does not account for the extremes of our violent behavior, but the Christian worldview fits the data exactly - humans are basically evil until transformed by love.

The Bible doesn't teach that people are generally good. It does have passages like this that teach that people are capable of acting good at times though.

Romans 2:14 for whenever Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things of the law, these, not having the law, are a law unto themselves, 15 who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience witnessing with them, and among themselves their thoughts accuse or even defend them),

Matthew 5:13-16:

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? ... You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid... Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

nicely I dont be attentive to the way you should call your self a "religious" Christian in the previous in case you have never understood God's notice in the previous. you nevertheless regarded at a loss for words approximately God's notice and His character. God spoke to human beings in a time and place, each and every now and then in a language that they could understand. The Bible isn't against technology, it became Christianity that birthed technology! human beings needed to flow deeper into the introduction that God made, and be attentive to greater approximately God's introduction. If it wasn't for Christianity, there may well be no technology. there are lots of issues i ought to answer each and each of your questions, even though it might take see you later. occasion. you're saying "It took the Israelites 40 years to shuttle from Egypt to Canaan, yet one in each and every of those adventure, even at that element, might have taken no greater effective than ten days. sixteen:35" Did you no longer examine the story how they have been interior the desert 40 years, God did no longer enable them to go into into the land that became promised them through fact they disobeyed. They feared guy over listening and trusting God. So it became for the subsequent technology to inherit the promised land to Israel. yet another "The Israelite inhabitants went from 70 (or seventy 5) to quite a few million in some hundred years. a million:5,7, 12:37, 38:26" The notice "thousand" in hebrew may well be translated "thousand" or "tribe" that's plenty debated climate it speaks of Tribes or hundreds of individuals, yet the two way that's defined. the two ought to be actual, and the two have good info to assist their perspectives. however the maths works out that if each and each 70 persons had 3 babies, and that that they had 3 babies, who had a minimum of three babies etc. The huge type particularly reaches interior the thousands and thousands over 4 hundred years. that by potential of no potential is impossible. For a number of your references you didnt provide the e book, so it became difficult to be attentive to what you have been speaking approximately. yet in maximum situations there is the two a cultural or contextual rationalization on your questions.

Good luck. The Bible states man is born into sin, with a sin nature, naturally depraved.

Psa 58:3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from the belly, speaking lies.

Psa 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin my mother conceived me.

Eph 2:1 and you being dead in deviations and sins,
Eph 2:2 in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience,
Eph 2:3 among whom we also all conducted ourselves in times past in the lusts of our flesh, doing the things willed of the flesh and of the understanding, and were by nature the children of wrath, even as the rest.
Eph 2:4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,
Eph 2:5 even we being dead in deviations, He made us alive together with Christ (by grace you are being saved),

Rom 3:10 according as it has been written, "There is not a righteous one, not even one!"
Rom 3:11 "There is not one understanding; there is not one seeking God."
Rom 3:12 All turned away, they became worthless together, not one is doing goodness, not so much as one!"

The Bible is quite clear about the nature of man, and it is NOT good.

Hm. Don't think so. The ones I'm thinking of run along the lines of, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, the heart is desperately wicked who can know it, there is none good, no one seeks God, like that.

If we were so "good" we would not need a savior.

Many people think they are going to heaven because they are good. However, Jesus himself refers in Matthew 19:17 that God is the only one good. In Romans 3:23 (MKJV) it says:
"for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

One may say that they are sincere, and that God will accept them because they are sincere. Was Hitler sincere? I think he was (but it didn't save him-if he was saved at all). You see, our understanding of right and wrong may be different from each other. Is God's standard going to change from one person to the next, because of sincerity? Let me quote Proverbs 14:12 (MKJV):

"There is a way which seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death."

A person may then claim some great work, or multiple good works, or even church attendance to achieve eternal life. However the scripture is plain on this issue.

Ephesians 2: MKJV
8 For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Titus 3: MKJV
5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us...

In fact, repenting from dead works is the first Foundational Principle of Christ, in Hebrews 6:1. Read Hebrews 5:12 through Hebrews 6:3.

Dead works is, and not limited to: believing and/or doing some work to achieve eternal life.

We must remember, that down in the center of our self we are not good and that our standard of goodness isn't the same as the guy next door, let alone God. We all must turn away from the idea of pleasing God by doing traditions or rituals of men. However, some of these things can be God's will, but they alone don't get you salvation, nor mixed with anything other than God's way. I'll quote Jesus in Mark 7:13: (NKJV)

13 making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do."

Another wrong thought or belief of having eternal life is that one may be saved because of their heritage or parents. I am not discussing youth, but those who are of age and can make their own decision.

John 1: NKJV
12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Where's the Good News? The good news is this:

John 14: MKJV
6 Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me.

John 10: MKJV
1 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter into the sheepfold by the door, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.
7 ... I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters in by Me, he shall be saved...

It is simple to be saved, because Jesus did the work, we don't have to. Please don't let this simplicity keep you from eternal life.

2 Cor 11: MKJV
3 But I fear lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve in his craftiness, so your thoughts should be corrupted from the simplicity due to Christ.

He did it! This is the faith. Will you trust Him at His word? If He say's it's simple to be saved, will you believe Him?

You have it backwards. Generally bad, born bad.

Romans 3:12
ALL HAVE TURNED ASIDE, TOGETHER THEY HAVE BECOME USELESS; THERE IS NONE WHO DOES GOOD, THERE IS NOT EVEN ONE."

That's why we need a savior.
