I have a prescription for two types of eyeglasses/frames. One is for a standard reading pair, the other is a very expensive progressive coated lens. To purchase these two pairs of glasses, including frames would be just under $1000. That is way to expensive, so I would like to find out if anyone knows where to get prescription glasses online or anywhere for reduced rates. I have the written prescriptions. thanks for any help

It really is not a good thing to purchase glasses online. There is not way of trying them on for fit or size or anything. Then there are no real gaurantees for returns and very little quality control. Buyer beware! You can get cheaper glasses even at an optical. Go shop around. You might have just pciked out expensive ones. Glasses are like anything else inthe world. You can see really expensive ones and really cheap ones and many many in between. There are many different warranties and different treatment on lenses etc. It just depends on what you choose. Shop. Ask questions!

Boy, are you shopping in the wrong places !

There is no reason at all for your glasses to cost anywhere near that...shop around.

Progressive lenses have to have very accurate measurements done on you, for the vertical and horizontal placement of the progressive column, with the frame on your face, for them to function properly.

An online glasses place just guesses at it. That's ridiculous.

Get your glasses from an optical store. They are pretty well always less expensive than Optometrists. ( Except Lenscrafters)

For a good pair of glasses, there is a lot more precision involved than most people realize. Online glasses can't be any better than pure junk.
