It depends on the nature of the offence, how long ago it was and whether you are still on parole or not. Check the Department of Immigration and Citizenship website for details on character requirements

If you tick the the box (on the green slip they give you on the plane) that says you have a criminal record, they will check and make an individual assessment based on your circumstances. If you lie about it and don't declare it they will pick you up very easily. Even if you are from the UK. You will be turned back at the airport, put on a plane and sent home. Trust me.

It will depend on the nature of the offence, what the punishment was (if jail time how long etc), whether it wasnt the first offence and also personal referees. The best thing to do would be to contact immigration or to even approach the embassy wherever you live currently. We do have strict rules, so it is best to find out before flying out, as they can, and have done many times, put you straight back on a plane to your original destination.

>>> Some background check services work, while others do not. My daughter in law used the ECheck one spoken of by the "Anonymous" Detective guy on here. That worked great, she discovered all types of information about a prospective husband that altered the course of her relationship. It helped her to avoid making what would have been a terrible life decision. As for me, I am one of the HR heads at a well-known firm. Our firm is one which relies heavily upon good public relations, so I also use https://tr.im/8b409 on a regular basis to weed out potential bad apples. My primary function at our firm is hiring and reviewing resumes.

Cheers!

Instantly run searches and gather information about the people you interact with on a daily basis or people who live around you. You will be shocked with what you find out. The real question is, can you handle the truth https://tr.im/CMORU
