The event organizers always state that it's open to the public for witches, pagans or pagan friendly people (as the case may be) ...there is even a 'Samhain Bash and Jam' just down the road from me....and the invitation says it's for everyone-even people who just want to see what this is all about. Okay here is the important question-WHAT should I wear?

Thanks 'Daniel D' ( I know that site) but it's good of you to post this -it can be of help to others reading this question :-) Also, some of the meetings are in a park or rec room and they say to just show up at the time and place)

To Ard-Drui -'because they are not capable of that! Apparently 'God gave us all free will' however the Christians disagree with that decision and have over ruled him! =))

Here is what the ad says -Firedance Drum Circle presents...
Samhain Bash and Jam Dress like you're at Fest!!!!
Event Details: Come and Join Firedance Drum Circle and friends for a Samhain Bash and Jam. Our theme is "Return to Festival" and we would love for everyone to dress up in their favourite festival outfits. If you are not a festival goer, wear a costume, whatever gets you in the holiday spirit!
Potluck is welcome, and encouraged. There will be a raffle for some great prizes and a door prize for the best outfit! So please come out and join us to celebrate Samhain and honor our ancestors with dancing and drumming. We will have a table available, bring a candle for your ancestors if you wish!
What to Bring: Drums, a candle for your ancestors, and a chair.
(I don't have a drum and don't know how to play one either :-( also I've never been to a Festival before so this is why I need suggestions on what specifically to wear so I fit in.)

Clothing(if it`s in public)

Since it`s a FireDance, wear something that does not catch fire easily, avoid hanging fabrics, tassels, robes.

edit;

I thought "The Blood of Jesus" was pretty good, until I checked out the guys profile------------Religious Fanatics ARE a Danger to society!
Hey dude, what would Jesus wear?eh? Can`t you leave anyone to their own Beliefs?

Depends on what coven you might go to. I've been to and participated in a few pagan and Wicca gatherings. Most people wore casual dress, while some, mainly the Wicca clergy, wore more Gothic and medieval outfits. For the most part the rituals were performed outside in a park, but you had to let them know you were coming there first. There may be some covens that allow people to just show up and attend. Many covens are autonomous, so the rules and expectations can vary from one coven/group to another. A good site to find about any local Wicca and Neo-Pagan gatherings and events that may be coming up in your area or near it are at the website: witchvox.org
Hope this can be of help. :)

Something comfortable. Ask someone at the Wiccan Church. I am sure there is not a dress code. If it is for Halloween (Samhain) A costume may be the way to go, but what you are most comfortable wearing is what matter.

They are going to want you to feel comfortable. It is a happy event it is the Witches New Year! Time to celebrate. Be respectful as I am sure you are and enjoy yourself. And learn what they are about.

We Witches make good friends and we never try to convert you. Just accept you as you are and as we want you to accept us.
Good Luck!

Generally speaking, most pagan events I've gone to were whatever clothing was comfortable, unless it was specifically stated otherwise.

I've stood as High Priest at more than one circle wearing literally nothing but a pair of denim shorts. That's my usual garb when I'm fulfilling the role of the Guardian, short of a consecrated boken (japanese wooden sword) strapped to my side.

Dress is generally casual. Is the event indoors or outdoors? if outdoors, dress for the weather.

Ephesians 6:10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
