Maximilian Kolbe is a great Saint. He gave up his life for a Jew in Auschwitz because the Jewish man was married with children---he was a Catholic priest. They tried to starve him in a little cell but he lasted and lasted and lasted---finally they could stand it no more because every time they would look in to see him dead there he was staring at them. They finally came in and gave him a shot of something that killed him but he is a great Saint.

Double check if it is Auschwitz or Buchenwald or where but one of those horror houses

I have 2 favorites- St. Francis and St Jude.
St. Jude Thaddeus was one of the twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus Christ. Because he has the same name as the traitor, people were slow to ask his help. However, he has a fascinating family history. He was the son of Cleophas, who died a martyr, and Mary who stood at the foot of the Cross, and who annointed Christ's body after death and brother of Saint James the Lesser. Mary and Joseph were his aunt and uncle which makes him a blood relative of Jesus Christ. beaten to death with a club, then beheaded post-mortem in 1st century Persia. He is the patron saint of helpless causes.

St Francis was born at Assisi in Umbria, in 1181 or 1182 to a wealthy cloth merchant. He died there October 3, 1226. He was held as a prisoner of war for about a year and later went on to found the Franciscan Order. In 1212 Clare of Assisi became his spiritual student, which led to the founding of the Poor Clares. While in meditation on Mount Alvernia in the Apennines in September 1224, Francis received the stigmata, which periodically bled during the remaining two years of his life. He is most widely known as he patron saint of animals, but he is the patron saint of many other causes, such as dying alone and the environment (a very timely topic with Al Gore's recent Nobel Peace Prize).
Good Luck on your report.
This is a great website no matter which saint you choose.

st jude- the patron saint of lost causes
st luke- artists
st christopher-travellers
st bernard - candlemakers not to be confused with st bernard of menthon who is patron st of mountaineers (hence the dog name)
st albert the great- scientists
sorry im athiest and cant think of many more except the usual well known ones, obviously once you decide which saint you want to report about you can check on the internet. personally id do bernard cos you get two saints for the price of one and i bet your audience would learn something... id start off saying "who is the patron st of mountaineers?" i bet someone would say st bernard, you could then say no that was bernard of menthon but we will discuss candles. if report written you could still start off similar. have fun in your research hope your report goes well

You can't find a good saint? Aren't they all good? Try writing about Mother Teresa whose beatification was held on October 19, 2003, shortly after her death. Pope John Paul was instrumental in elevating her to sainthood so soon after her death.

Mother Theresa spent her entire life helping the poor all over the world, from her homeland of India to countries in South America. She worked with AIDS patients, giving of herself unselfishly.

And the really strange thing about her years of religious service: she doubted God, but continued her wonderful works!

Below is a link to a Calendar of Saints - you click on the date and you'll get a list of Saints - you can then click on the ones in blue for info.

So, pick your birthday, or any other significant day, and have fun!

i won't bear in mind the call of the two-area sequence that confirmed on PBS, besides the shown fact that it exchange into approximately Mormonism. It had ideal scenes and dramatic transitions, yet I observed it as a distorted version of the certainty initially while the creation pronounced that Joseph Smith claimed that he exchange into the large "i'm." that's lots from the certainty. at the same time as interviews have been made with the varied typical government, they have been short time in comparison with the exchanges made with the excommunicated or disfellowshipped persons of letters. The PBS particular failed in one substantial component, and that exchange into to bare to the typical public that the Latter-day Saints pontificate the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and that via Christ and obeying all His commandments, we are able to then return to the daddy's presence.
