because we have free will.
people want to be independent, and govern themselves. i a way they're making themselves into their own "god", only worrying about themselves and satisfying their needs.
also out of fear. they can't comprehend that such a "higher power" exists--God.
its frightening.
i have been raised Catholic and i fear heaven just as much as hell. even though i shouldn't. but still we are afraid of the unknown.

To me, God is Everything. God is you, I, the air we breathe, the flowers, those stinky socks waiting to be washed, the sun, the ocean, the keyboard I'm using to type these words, and so on and so on.
So, why I don't believe in God the way you do, I believe in Everything being a greater thing.
"how do they think any of this was created?? science and nature couldnt do this all by themselves..."
Well, guess what, nature IS God. Science didn't create a thing, science is the study of Nature. Bingo. Science studies God. So, whats' your problem with Science?
Religion and Science are not two different things, just like Christianity and Mormon are not. Yes, they have different "morals", but that came from the people that created the rules. But they all have the same message: There is a greater thing. Science does too, and that's why there is research to understand those things we can't yet grasp.
Religion is what men came up with because they did not understand things.
And that's fine!! My God, your God, his God. All the same. Just seen different.
People need to focus on living here and now, and making things better for everyone, rather than accusing everyone, thinking that everyone is going to hell.
I'm going to use Christianity as an example, but I am not attacking anyone:
Jesus came to save us. If you were a good person, you wouldn't need salvation. So, just be a good person, and shut the fork up.
Treat everyone with respect, learn how they like to be treated. Treat EVERYTHING with respect, and Mother Nature will be happy. We, everything, is God.
And no, I'm not Pagan. I never found any word to label, and I've tried hard.
I respect your views, so respect mine. Just treat everyone with respect, and we will all be fine.
But if you look at history, look at all the things the Vatican hides. Killed scientists because they didn't want people to take people away from Christianity. Killed. How am I supposed to trust people like that, and believe their God? Hypocrite.
So, AGAIN, treat everyone with respect, and we will be fine.

Because there's no evidence to suggest that such an entity exists. Certainly no evidence that any supernatural/creator entity that might be out there is in any way, shape or form the one worshipped by Christians and described in their Bible.
There's just as much evidence (or lack thereof) for Odin, Hastur or Quetzlcoatl - so why don't you believe in any of them.
And if the universe is too complex to have been a result of science and nature, and required a supernatural entity - then where did the supernatural entity come from? Surely He is even more complex than the universe - so must have been designed by some other, more complex supernatural critter.

God is science
God is nature
God is gravity
God is love
God is beingness
God is the atom, the neutron, the proton.
Everything is God.
God is not a he
God is not a man
God is not someone to fear
God is not someone to pray to, like a deity.
God is not in the mind
God is not a person who judges
God is gravity, is the glue that holds all of this together
People do not believe in God because, God is not understood by the mind/ego
God is in the heart, God is a felt quantity/quality.
To "feel" what is God, one must be "out of their mind"

why do some people not believe in god? The ability to think and reason..
how do they think any of this was created?? The Big Bang followed by 4.5 billion years of evolution
science and nature couldnt do this all by themselves... Your hypothesis is flawed.. You assume simply because you do not believe it is possible that you are correct...

I think that it is hard for some people to believe in somone they have never seen, and only heard of. The way you get to know God is read about Him in the Bible.Sometimes it is easier for some people to deny there is a God, because you have to trust someone you can't see. But, like I say it is better felt that telt. God is not about religiion it is about a realationship, Jesus didn't die to give us religion. He took every sin we ever committed,His love is free and we don't deserve it.

Because there is no valid reason to believe that any such thing exists outside of religious fiction.
We know that intelligence is a product of the universe, not the other way round, so intelligence cannot be responsible for the existence of the universe.

I believe God exists,
but I don't believe he was the creator.
Science didn't create anything.
It only discovers the truth about nature.
Religion is based on a foundation of mythical folklore.

A fair number of people find no reason to believe in a gaseous invertibrae of astronomical heft that will spend eternity punishing those who don't believe in him.
It's nonsensical to many people, and they don't find a need to explore the texts and prayers of a religion they find ridiculous.
Have you studied about Taoism? Hindu? Krishna?
Odds are you haven't, because you have your religion.
It's the exact same thing that you feel when someone says, "Praise Allah".

The elements have always existed, natural laws (like gravity, chemical reaction, ect) made the objects in the universe.
Where would a god come from?
