"Not believing is a choice." Not believing is NOT a choice. You try an believe something you don't.
Try believing in Zeus as g-d and see if you can choose to.
They just want to believe it is a choice so those particular pushy people can badger you and blame you for believing wrong.
Really sad and a cop out.
And I don't think they will ever get it.
You know I don't think they know what an Atheist is.
They think it something it is not. It is simply not believing in your g-d. It is not complicated You don't choose it

I guess they really DON'T understand.
We are none of us born with any religious beliefs. Therefore LOGIC would suggest that we CHOOSE at some later stage in our lives to believe in something.
An Atheist simply never changes the initial state he was born in. That is, one of NON belief.
At least that is how it applies to me. So take your 4000 year old opinions and STFU.

I know a lot of Christians see it as their duty to 'save' you, but I know a number of them that are respectful, and I am infinitely respectful of a person with beliefs who does not try to make me think like them. If only more christians were like that... it would make so many people happier, and more amiable towards the christian religion.

I've never tried to say anything to atheists about what they do or don't believe.
Can you understand that?
Some atheists appear to be trying to impose THEIR beliefs on us.

They don't realize that believing in a god would be as impossible for me as believing in a three sided square.
They impose because they think they know best... because they think their "god" knows best.

Perhaps, but there's still the legal imposition tactic, which, frankly, is the more odious one.

Apparently they don't understand reading the replies.
For me it is not a choice, I just can't, not won't.

You do not believe because you cannot believe. In your flesh, you do not have the capacity or ability to believe in the God of the Bible. God gives the faith to believe, give us the Holy Spirit who indwells the believers, and opens the eyes and ears of those whom He has chosen out for salvation.
