what is writing to dvd-ram vs. writing to cd-r? what are the benefits of either.?

I just want my media player to rip, burn, play music cds without any problems. it works sometimes and not others.

Your question isn't very clear. The difference in writing (burning) to a disk is whether you can use the DVD (a DVD burner is required. For a CD, it is usually quite easy to do. You need only have a Cd burner for music or data. A DVD is like a movie with motion and music on it. Hope this helps. Jan
