I'm not going to try to tell you which to join. You have to make that decision yourself.
The pay is pretty much the same in all the services.
Join the service because you want to serve your country. They all provide excellent training. But they are not in business to teach you to be a computer guru for Microsoft, or an airframe mechanic for Boeing or Lockheed, or a an avionics expert for Raytheon. or an EMT for your local fire department. They are not in business to provide you a college education. They are not in the travel business to station you wherever you want to go. They are in business to train soldiers to fight for their country as an instrument of foreign policy... and to have the best chance of coming back alive.
Historically, the Army has been the easiest to get into, but with the "all volunteer" military that may no longer be the case.
As far as your physiognomy, you'll probably fill out a bit in the next couple of years. If it bothers you, I'd suggest you do at least what I do. Run (not jog) a couple miles three times a week. Swim a couple of miles a day. Work out in a gym... I use weights, but you might throw in some push-ups (200 or so), and pull-ups (50 or so). Want a killer workout... Put in five miles as follows... swim a mile, run a mile, swim a mile... like that. Try to keep the runs under 10 minutes and the swims under 25 minutes. That might seem pretty light, but when you get to the second swim...
But slim doesn't mean weak. Look at the guys who do triathlons.
You might consider getting a degree and entering in an officer's program.

If you are doing well in school I recommend joining a Jr.ROTC program. If you want to be on the "Front lines" join the Army or Marines. I thank each branch has something for everyone.
I can only speak on behalf of the Air Force. I would say its not too bad and defiantly good for expanding your knowledge of your Job. From what I have seen the Air Force and Navy allow for more time for education.
They all pay the same base salary but if you go on a ship the navy you can earn more special duty pay. Air Force tends to have the better living accommodations (housing).
Since I have been in the Air Force I have lived in Japan 6 years and loved it. I will be going to Germany at the end of next year and am looking forward to that.
You sound like a good kid....Good luck!

The heirarchy of difficulty of admission, is comensurate with benefits.
To put it simply: the Air Force has the strictest
admissions requirements, and
by far the best benefits.
the Navy second.
and the Army brings up the
rear.
I think you would be much better off, if you would first get at least an associates degree before applying to any of the services. Your educationl level determines your placement level in any of the armed services.
So I would encourage you to acquire the highest possible education, prior to entereing the service.
They are like any other profession, in that the degree or level of formal education one has, determines rank and pay.
If you could manage it, you would be a lot better off if you could acquire at least a Bachelors degree in something; doesn't really matter what. You could then apply for Officer''s Canidate School, after you've enlisted as a non-commiseioned enlistee.
Believe me. I was in the Army during the Korean Conflict. I had enlisted - volunteered as you are contemplating to do,to get the G.I. bill - but I learned as you will, good intentions don't mean crape in the military.
All military institutions in the world, are modeled after the feudal system. The have's are the nobles, the commissioned officers. The have nots, are the uncommissioned. Get your education first - try for a 4 yr. college - then, enlist.
Good luck,
Wotan

All services use the same base pay. However if its money for college that you want I suggest Army they offer great enlistment options. However if you REALLY dont want to be deployed I'd suggest Air Force.
And dont worry about being skinny, it might help you. I'm 5'5 and pretty darn skinny, if sure makes climbing a whole lot easier. Since you have time, no matter what branch you join work on running and push ups because those are garenteed with any service.
Good Luck!

The pay is the same.....E1 or O1 the pay does not differ regardless of which branch you are in.
However, they do offer different bonuses. The USAF is trying to get rid of some people so right now they are not offering too many bonuses. The Army and Marines are in great need of special forces so if you qualify, you can get a whopper of a bonus.
USAF bases are newer. Some of the Army and Navy bases have been around for over a hundred years and look it.
However it sounds like you are in it for the money so I recommend the USAF as it will be safer for you. You do not sound too eager to serve in the services that really needs people.

hahahaa first off, all that crap about the military giving you money for college is BS
when my uncles 8 years were done, he was promised pay to go to college. instead, they sent him back to iraq for 15 months.
he was killed 2 months in his new tour
anyway, im not agaisnt the military..im joining the marine corps after college
but dude u cant just ask what you wanna join..different branches have different jobs and they depend on what you wanna do
obviously if you wanna fly...go air force/navy
navy has navy SEALS...but thats a whole other story
and of course if you wanna be in direct combat and chances to be part of different forces (rangers, special forces, airborne, etc) join the army
airforce is the easiest to get in
but then again...were talking about the army navy and airforce here..none are really that hard to get in
but this is different than qualifiying..such as for rangers/special forces, seals, etc..of course those are a bit intimidating and harder.

hmmm, for schooling oppurtunities and better pay, dont enlist right off the bat, do good in school, DONT waste time on drugs and alcohol, go to college for two years, and then check out the army reserves or national guards rotc programs, becuase if youve already been in college for two years, you wont have to mobilize with your unit, and will in fact get paid to go to school as long as you do good. alot of ppl would call that approach being a coward, but there are more jobs than just fighting, and they are very much as needed, your young enough to make a smart choice on this, go with school, and if by then you still want to enlist, youll have a hekofa lot better...everything! As for branches, in my opinion, there all good, and all needed, Marines probably would not be for you, there the first in, last out, and well, they make sure their tough enough to handle it. There is a reason their slogan starts with the words "The Few" lol. just check out your options dude, and do whats right for you.

Join the Army National Guard.
They will help you with school.
The Army has MORE boats, planes, Aircraft of every size shape and purpose than the rest of the services combined.
They have the best schools in the world.
Go to your national guard or army reserve and talk to them.

Join the Air Force. They take care of their people.
I couldn't get in because I got into some trouble. I joined the Navy and I'm glad I did.
Not the Army or Marines, your just a number and they would rather you die than get injured.
