Her oath of enlistment pretty much covers it: obey the orders of the officers appointed over her according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice.
It's a unit morale function. She's in the unit. She's not being asked to do anything contrary to the law. She is perfectly free to go to her chain of command about this, but I do not advise it. We used to call it "mandatory fun" when I was in.
P.S. Trust me, folks in Iraq or Afghanistan would love to paint faces stateside for 90 minutes.It's 90 minutes. If she's hanging by such a thread that she can't take 90 minutes...well, you know.

She can work the chain of command, explain her reasons for not wanting to do it or figure it's only an hour and a half and just do it. Pretty simple stuff, I'd say.

if its an order from a superior she has to do it, there is nothing illegal about it. its only an hour and a half, but if she has a problem with that she needs to let her chain of command know.

so, whats the problem? doesn't your wife know she's in the army? i guess the army has changed more than i realized. when i was in, we knew they controled our life, 24 hrs. a day till we got out.
