If you want concubines and can afford them you can have them. Think about years ago when people lived to the ripe old age of 40, of course they stayed with the same wife, they didn't have time for a second or third wife. Now we live to be 80 or older, time for more than one wife or husband. Anyway I got off on a tangent. I guess my answer is in the first sentence.

incase you didnt know a concubine is simply woman living in a lawful marriage arrangement with a man, but whose status was regarded as being less than a wife.i am sure that the reason you cannot have one isnt that you arent holy enough, but more so that women today dont want to be in that kind of a relationship. they will take true marrage or nothing. they find it as an insult that you dont love them enough to actually marry them, but you want to be with them legally. also, it is pretty hard hard to find a government that will allow you to have them, and find women who will do it, and people wouldn't really understand why you werent really married to her. you might be wondering about the government thing. well its because its illegal in america to have two wives, and even though they are not really wives, taking it to court, you would probably lose immediatly

You can have them!
Go for it dude, just make sure that you don't get married. then they start stealing away all your money and trying to take your house in the divorce. You know the house they never paid a dime for, but lived there for free while you went to work and paid the bills.
Of course the law now says it's part theirs but why do they want to kick us men out? That's what I want to know?
If you ask me concubines are better cause they have no rights over your property, of course you have to live in a state that does not recognize common law marriages. good luck, and I expect to hear about your story in the dear penthouse section soon.

You live, I assume, in a western society? We no longer value men who collect woman as they do wealth. Woman are not here to pleasure you and are no longer considered property. But since you feel worthy of such things have you spoken to your mother lately and told her that you want to be a holy man with a concubine?

Are you talking about the Prophets(PBUT*) and Kings who had lots of women? They weren't concubines they were wives of the Prophets(PBUT*). The prophets(PBUT*) are special and ALLAH(SWT) allowed the Kings and Prophets to have more then one wife to help the population grow. ALLAH(SWT) NEVER outlawed Polygamy. It's just not practiced today by many people.

That's a cultural thing, not a religious thing. It was more prevalent in middle-eastern countries where the events in the Old Testament took place. Also, those were people who could afford to feed, clothe and house all of those women, their children and servants, too. Also, there's a very strict social system in place there, too, they didn't just say "hey, I like her, let me take her home"!

More importantly, at what point does one go from having concubines to being a sl*t?
Wow: Yahoo is censoring "s.l.u.t."?

By being so ignorant, inane and mediocre you've placed others who might otherwise agree with you in the awkward position of not being able to do so.
