Are nephilims really the offspring of angels and humans?

Is that what Genesis 6 is talking about or are there other interpretations?

Sure there are other interpretations. However using the KJV there is only one other book that has this phrase in the OT(I am ignoring the NT because it is clearly talking about humans). This is in Job when Satan appears with the Sons of God or angels. The word that is translated son can be translated son, grandson, child or member of a group
and comes from the root word that translates into -to build. I think that is pretty accurate for the concepts of angels.
As for giants. The word that is translated here as giants literally means giants. The root word comes from fall or fallen. Kinda interesting isn't it. in addition it is only found one other place Num 13:33.
So in reference to you question Nephilims do seems to refer to the offspring of angels and humans from my stand point and these offspring became mighty men.

4There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

It is kinda hard to interpret the verse. It could mean there were giants already on earth when the angels and women came together. Or there were giants on the earth in these times and also after these times. These times being when the men and angels came together.


The word giant however is found 17 other times in the OT but is translated from a different word which doesn't seem to have a real translation it is more of a name for the race of cannanites that lived in the promised lands.

There the place many books skipped over of the bible and a large number of pages faraway from the books they did contain. interior those pages are a large many memories alongside with those of Jesus as a youthful guy and the time before the flood or the autumn. I generally just think of nefiliem as fallen angels.
But Genesis 6 would imply it (When men began to multiply on earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of heaven saw how beautiful the daughters of man were, and so they took for their wives as many of them as they chose. Then the Lordsaid: “My spirit shall not remain in man forever, since he is but flesh. His days shall comprise one hundred and twenty years.” At that time the Nephilim appeared on earth (as well as later), after the sons of heaven had intercourse with the daughters of man, who bore them sons. They were heroes of old, men of renown).

In other texts and modern day culture it's different though, as everyone interprets it in a different way. (In Aramaic culture, the term Nephila specifically referred to the constellation of Orion, and so Nephilim to Orion's semi-divine descendants etc.)
Some even say that the 'half-gods', giants and titans of classical roman and greek mythology are actually the Nefiliem. They're also compared to the Thursen en Joten (mythology of Nothern Europe)

You need to read the book of Enoch on this. I have studied it for 35 years. They are likely people from another planet.
The book of Enoch was used in the early church. The bible quotes from it over 100 times. It was lost and now found.
