I have a friend who hears all kinds of myths like this, and being an avid gum chewer (Stride all the way!) I really wondered if there was any truth to this.

Stride is a sugarless gum and I've heard good tthings bout chewing gum, like how it helps circulate blood to your brain which helps you think.

PATRICK,

YOU CAN TRUST MY PROFESSIONAL OPINION CHEWING GUM WILL NEVER CAUSE RECESSION.
WHAT CAUSES IT IS BRUSHING TOO FIRMLY AND/OR WITH A BRUSH THAT'S TOO FIRM.

ALWAYS CHEW SUGARLESS BECAUSE PEOPLE THAT CHEW GUM HAVE FEWER CAVITIES. THE FACT OF CHEWING ACTUALLY CLEANS THE SURFACES OF THE CHEWING TEETH FROM THE STICKY FOODS WHICH END UP FEEDING THE BACTERIA THAT CAUSE DECAY.

YOU SHOULD STILL BRUSH YOUR TEETH HOWEVER, AS CHEWING DOES NOT SUBSTITUTE BRUSHING.

Gums recede due to gum disease often caused by poor hygiene. The best way to prevent it is to have the teeth cleaned regularly to be sure the plaque is removed from below the gum line. Make an appointment with the dentist.

I've never heard the one about how it helps circulate blood to your brain and helps you think. I know that chewing gum doesn't make your gum line recede. That comes with age. A Dentist usually pokes at the receding gum to make it fill with blood to build it back up in my case.

No I don't think so. BTW I freaking love Stride. THE best. =)

If that were true, don't you think 90% of the population would have receding gums?

That's also like that "imitation sugar gives you cancer" myth. If it did, then wouldn't a lot of diabetics have cancer?

No.
I think you'd be able to tell by looking at majority of the world when they smile.
Its not exactly good for your teeth; but it wont make your gums receede.
Stride + Orbit...luv it lol
