Are you sure you got the right word?
Introduction is what you do when you meet someone new.
Induction (which sounds similar) has several possibly relevant meanings. It is a type of mathmatical proof. It is also away generating electricity from a changing magnetic field. It is also used in engines (basically a turbocharger).

As a quick example of introduction, I have written a number of booklets on...
...An Introduction to 'The Basics of Oil and Natural Gas Production, Separation, Treatment, Natural Gas Compression and Liquefaction, and Gas Dehydration and Sweetening'.
Also, an Introduction, is when you are with ,say, your girlfriend or your Parents and you meet an old friend "John", you Introduce them to him and, him to them..."John, I'd like you to meet 'Sally', Sally this is John"
"Mum, Dad, this is my old friend John....John this is my Mum and Dad".
