I have a 7 month old kitten (I got her a week ago), very smart and bursting with energy. This kiddo could play all day. Unfortunately, I'm not a spring chicken and while a few minutes of playing with her a day is okay, it's not like I'm the kitty's nanny.

If she's not entertained, she's naughty. She doesn't like to be held, and is biting me all the time. She gets overexcited and it becomes a fight of death or something. She acts as though she wants revenge and becomes the cat of hell.

My question is: what does one do with an indoor kitten like mine to wear her out and calm her down?

Oh, and she's NOT getting along with the older kitty in the house.

There are two adults and one overactive teenager in this house. Believe me, she gets played with.

Laser pointer. Hands down the best toy to wear out a cat, AND save you energy. All you have to do is sit in a chair and point that laser at the ground. The cat will run and run and run and pounce at that red dot until you put it down. :)

sounds like my situation, a little bit. well not so much, just the 7 mo active kitty and older cat. but I think a pet is a responsibility so I consider myself his "nanny". it sounds like your a typical bad owner. when it's convieniant for you, you want to play and hold her and cuddle. what the right thing to do is play with her all the time to expend the energy! you shouldn't have gotten her if you were only willing to spend a "few minutes" time on her. she's naughty because she's bored! if you only have a "few minutes" go spend a few dollars and overload her with toys to occupy her. her biting is playing and teething, just as humans and dogs do. it goes away. as she ages, they energy will simmer down. and as for the older cat, they will probably work it out themselves. as long as no one is being injured, don't worry.

:) my goodness. take some time, turn off the computer, and go spend time with your kitty.

well number 1: she is a KITTEN, human toddlers act the exact same way.
number 2: she has lots of energy and is obviously bored.
number 3: you are not a good pet owner if you are not willing to play with her for at least an hour a day.
number 4: you need to set you priorities!
