We are still waiting for the DNA test to come back. The person who raped me is still working in that hospital and works in an isolated room alone with the patients. Now, I haven't been able to get much help or information.

Today, I contacted my State Representative and she is contacting the states attorneys office. Is this something that should have been done in the beginning of the investigation?? How can they help and what will they do to help me?? Will they help to get him out of the hospital and away from patients?? Any extra info. you can give is appreciated?

It sounds as though you did the correct thing in contacting your state representative. She will get the ball rolling for you.
She and the states attorney will investigate to see why there hasn't been any additional investigation, and why the person who did this was not arrested.
You can also contact the health department, the AMA, and the state licensing bureau, but at this point, I would wait to see what the state's attorney will do.

You need to find out who owns/controls the hosptial; usually it is a huge group such as Tenet. Tehn you need to call the corporate office and talk to the CEO, COO, CIO or someone high up and tell them what happened. I assume you told the police. I would do everything in my power to get the word out; it is shocking he is still there, how can that be? ALL the patients are in danger!
Also call the newspapers and the lovcal TV news stations and tell the station managers and the news editors. Whatever you have to do, do it to get the word out and get some action!
I was attacked in my apt years ago and 17 other women were also attacked and out of that number I was the onl;y one who called the police. When they caught him he was climbing out the window of another pat a few blocks over.

State's attorneys are the ones who would file criminal charges against him and possibly the hospital. It will most likely involve a trial (unless he pleads guilty). It will help you find your peace of mind; if you want monetary compensation (I would not blame you if you did), that would be a civil attorney. If he's convicted, he'll definitely be put behind bars and be out of the hospital. I'm sorry you have to go through this.

Contact the Ombudsman in your state or the state department of health immediately! This should have been done first thing. The department of health is the governing body of government that investigates allegations of abuse and you were ABUSED! I am amazed that this was not done and pray you are going to be OK..

I generally do not approve of lawsuits against hospitals because they drive up the cost of care for everyone. This case is different, because it is a delibrate act, not an accident. If the hospital management cares more about their finances than about patient safety, a lawsuit may make them see him as a liability.

im sorry about what happened lisa and i hope they catch him but until they've got the dna test to prove who it was then they can't do anything because if they remove someone and it wasnt them then they could be sued for it but as soon as they get the results that will prove who did it then they will remove him and put his sorry butt in jail...i hope your recovering ok and i am thinking of you :) and yeah i think they should have been contacted i dont live in the usa i live in the uk but im just guessing that they should of done it as soon as possible

I htink you are making fun of a serious situation here. DNA tests come back in days, not months. I doubt that a rape victim has the nerve to post her experience in a message board, especially when it reveals potential evidence and could easily defamate her case.

Get another cheap thrill, rape victims deserve more respect and empathy than that

Get a lawyer. He'll probably be more reliable than an open-source discussion board like yahoo answers.
