The age levels and maturity is greatly different at those different ages. It would be very unwise to go out with this fellow.

I think it depends on the individual.
If you've been going out for nine months and are comfortable with the relationship, then it's probably OK.
However, here are a couple of things to consider.
- Some consider 14 to be too young an age to date. Why do you think they say so?
- Guys are physically stronger than girls, and if he's older, might expect more than you want to give.
Of course, this isn't true with everyone. The best thing to do would probably be to ask the advice of someone who knows you both well.
Good luck!

I think a 14 year old is too young to date at all! My twins are 15 1/2 and can only go out in groups of friends. They can not even date exclusively until they are 16.
14 is still a baby.

There is a big maturity difference between a 17 year old and a 14 year old. Why does he want to date what in the view of most his age is a "little kid"? What is he getting from it?

I see no problem if you both are responsible and are being careful.
The age gap there isn't really that big, either.
Do you two get along? Has this past 9 months been good? Do you respect each other?
If you answered yes to those three questions, then I'd say you're doing alright and make a good couple. Screw what those other people say.

It would seem to be ok, when you consider that when he is 30 you'll be 28. When you say it like that its ok. But at the age your at now you are both in very different stages of development. Also when he hits 18 his lifestyle will probably change a lot.
But in the end, the choice is up to you two and how comfortable you are in the relationship.

Well, it depends on what you're doing with him. I was 14 and dated someone 17, and I was too young to realize that he was using me and encouraging me to do things that went against my personal morals. If he respects you, never pressures you, and you guys are keeping it strictly appropriate for your ages, then it's fine. If he's trying things and putting pressure on you to do things you don't really want to do, you need to find somebody else. And a lot of the time if your friends are telling you that you shouldn't be with someone, it's for a good reason.

As long as you know him well, which is seems like you do, there is no problem. Just make sure that he doen't pressure you to do something that you don't want to do. Older guys can brain wash you, so don't let him get in your head and make you believe that you can't be without him, or it will be hard to get out. Just make sure he treats you right and follow your heart in this relationship.
