The first optician who answered you is right.

The lens doesn't expire, the solution does.

How long after the expiry date is the key.

If it is within 3 or 4 months, just disinfect them overnight, and they will be fine again.

Be sure to check that there is no signs of fungus in the container when you open it. If so, throw them away.

Expiry dates are usually 2 or 3 years away...how long do you plan on keeping them ??...lol

The expiration date isn't really on the contact lens them selves but on the solution they are stored in. Depending on where they have been stored & how far past the expiration date they are you could possibly still wear them . Make sure there is no discolorations or funky smell to them. Disinfect them before wearing them in any case. I have worn some that were 6 months past the expiration date. Just be careful! That is going by the expiration date on the package. Not on ones that I have been wearing & need to throw out according to Drs. schedule

NO! When the contact lens is already expire you shouldn't wear it anymore.Cause when the lenses is expire, the lens material may be have any changes, and there would be have deposit on the surface of the lens.It will cause infection to your eye, feel itchy, dry, redness. If serious may be you cant wear contact lens in the future anymore. So you must follow the instruction.Take care your eye!

It's not worth the risk to your sight. I would definitely throw them away on the expiration date.

a pair of contacts should get thrown a way every 2 weeks. If you are just wearing the daily wear ones then they need to get thrown away every day. If you don't it causes infections.
