I was working we I bought my first car from a used car lot in San Leandro CA in 1949. It was a 1936 Plymouth Coupe, I think I paid $100.00 for it. I drove it to Baldwin Park where my parents lived. It was a good car, when in 1950 Mr Truman requested my valuable assistance in Korea I gave it to my uncle. I think it was given to some one else, because it wasn't around when I got back in late 1952. I got married in 1954, the wife had a 1950 Merc. I was in hog heaven, She died in 2000. We both loved that old Merc. but we had many other cars we loved after that one.

My first car was a 1960 Oldsmobile purchased in 1967. No parental contribution. I was at sea in the Merchant Marine and sent my dad $600.00 to buy me a car before I got home. He picked the Olds and it was a great car.

If my son was answering this, he'd say he got $2000 from parents, added that to a bit over $1000 he had saved.

It is a 2001 Kia Rio, a bare bones car, but it's in pretty good condition all around.

My parents gave me the car - no money - it was a beat to all heck Plymouth Horizon. It was a little death box.

Seeing that I am #8 in a family of 9, I learned to accept whatever was offered.

My first car was a 1999 Honda Civic Lx in black that I purchased when it first came out in September 1998. I paid for my car myself...without a dime from my parents. I worked for it. Went into the dealership and paid the entire amount in cash that day! It's a cool feeling when you have $15,000 in your purse and can litterally pick any car you want - and no car payments! Did I mention I was 19 years old when I bought it!

My dad co-signed a loan for 800.00 so I could buy my first car--a 69 Dodge Charger RT 440 automatic with a/c , power windows, AM 8 track in Vitamin C orange, black interior and black vinyl roof. What a car that was!!

None at all. That's it.

My ex in-laws gave me a beat-up, 13-year-old Pontiac Bonneville Station Wagon when I got pregnant shortly after I got married. We weren't planning to have kids for a few years. So we had no money to get a car. When my husband got a better job, we got a car on our own. (1995 Ford Escort Wagon)

My first car was a 1968 Dodge Dart gt. The only thing that my parents did was co-sign my loan.
