NO! Keep porno away from kids, but not literature. Knowledge never hurt faith! God is bigger than that!

You better believe it! We all censor what our children read if only through the act of what we buy and don't buy for them. I bought my son a children's story bible...how many non-believers would buy one for their child...isn't this censorship. I don't want my son reading the Joy of Sex either...he simply isn't old enough. I buy him age-appropriate books that reflect values I think are important. He has read books that aren't necessarily consistent with my religion (for example, he has read stories about Hanukkah and Rosh Hashanah and stories about the holiday celebrations of other faiths), but only those that I consider appropriate.

It is my right and my responsibility to decide what I want my child to learn when he is young. For me, this involves ensuring that he starts with a foundation of Christianity. When he is older and that foundation is established, I will give him a lot more freedom regarding what he chooses to read...but I will still censor his reading material until he is an adult. How many people do you know that would allow their 14 year old son to subscribe to Penthouse?

If a parent is teaching their child the ways of the Lord, one should not worry about what is found in a book. Your child will know how to distinguish from right and wrong. I trust that the Holy Spirit would guide my children.

I feel that it would be wrong for a parent to censor everything their child reads. Don't you want your child to be happy, to make their own choices? Let them know what they want to know about religion, even if you don't agree. It's a matter of allowing your child to grow into themselves as a person. Besides, censorship generally has the opposite of the desired outcome. You could end up pushing them away from Christianity.

I read a book once that I can't believe parents would let their children read. In the story, there are tales of people smearing feces on themselves, a woman is chopped up into 12 pieces after she is raped, millions of people are murdered and blood runs through the streets, people's skulls are crushed, human sacrifices, etc. Know where I'm going? Yep, the Bible. I'm not saying it's a terrible book, but parents who wont let their kids read Harry Potter or any other reasonable piece of literature yet allow their kids to peruse the Bible confuse me.

No. i in my opinion think of that public figures use a façade of religious strategies to sell the prepared religions from 'in the back of the curtain'. without the administration that religions use to maintain thousands and thousands of individuals decrease than administration, there may well be consistent anarchy and chaos, and maximum international places (alongside with the U.S.) don't have adequate regulation enforcement and/or protection tension shape to maintain such great numbers of individuals placid.

there are so many things that i would love to keep from my daughter. But the reality is, if i keep her in a Christian bubble, i don't think she will be effective for the kingdom of God when she gets older. Its my responsibility now to teach her the ways of the Lord, but remember we are in this world of we are not of this world. We have been set apart.

A coworker won't let his kids read or watch Harry Potter movies or books. So they watch them over at friends houses. I just think that the more you keep stuff hidden from kids, the more they will seek it out, just to see what the big deal is.

Most definitely I censor what my child reads, or watches on TV. We also home school. Sheltering your children to a certain extent is not bad. He still gets to read and watch a variety of things but I want it to be age appropriate and not go against our morals.

Since I am the parent, they are under my rules.
I will not allow them to ingest something that is against God's will. I will instruct them on how to handle these things, since they need to learn the ability to discern between right and wrong, God and satan.
When they are on their own, if my instructions hold true, I hope they adhere and enjoy a relationship with Jesus. But, as God gave them free will, they can choose on their own.
