I would not consider the S&W junk at all. The M&P series is decent quality, and will serve its purpose well. Its not very expensive either, making it a decent choice.
As a Sig Sauer owner myself, I can attest to the legendary quality and reliability of their products. Relatively speaking, the Sig is a much better gun, but again, this doesn't make the S&W "junk."

Your friend is right. Smith autos suck...I would go with Sig. Take a look at Springfield Armory XD Series.

whilst in comparison with HK and Sig, the others are merely area-timers interior the sector. whilst you're pondering saving your self some money and buying a Sigma, i beg you to re-think of it, or a minimum of circulate hire one first. The M&P's are not plenty greater effective, and that they are greater high priced. whilst you're no longer identifying to purchase a revolver that is optimal to bypass on a Smith these days. high quality controls has gotten out of hand for Smith, Walther, and Taurus. Glock's specific are not for me, yet i'll confess, they make a solid accountability pistol. If there is something i can gripe approximately Sig, that is that for certainly one of these cumbersome gun they have continually lacked interior the means branch in something chambered .40 S&W or larger. ultimately, different than for the fee tag, i won't be in a position to think of of something undesirable to declare approximately HK. HK is rather, between the main high quality manufacturers, if no longer the main accessible immediately. They hear to those that use their products time-honored, and alter for this reason. The Smith, be it M&P of Sigma, pales in assessment to any of the three weapons you listed. whilst i think of Glock/HK/Sig, i think of no count what, the gun will function suitable. whilst i think of Smith, I challenge....

I rather the Glocks, but getting back to your question, the S&W's of the last decade just does not appeal to me at all. It seems like all S&W is doing is copying other people's design, like Glock.I really have no use for current S&W line of guns, there are better guns out there at comparable price. The Sigs are fine guns, but too pricey.

I prefer the SIG line to S&W's of any period. I like S&W revolvers but not S&W semi-autos. SIG makes some really great guns. They are costly, but they may be worth it.

Sig...much better gun. You may pay more in the end, yet it is worth it. Have you looked into the KIMBER line of hand guns? These are really nice too.
