To put pictures on your PS3 from your digital camera simply save the photos on your camera to your digital camera memory card and put the memory card into the PS3 and then copy the pictures onto the PS3's harddrive.
Oh yea, I almost forgot to mention that the 60GB and 80GB PS3 are the only ones that have the digital camera memory card slots. If your PS3 doesn't have the camera memory card slots then use a computer to copy the pictures from the digital camera memory card to a USB drive.
I use the digital camera memory card slot all the time for putting pictures onto my PS3.

as long as you have a 60 gig ps3 you can either put the SD card in the ps3s memory slots and if you have a 20 or 40 gig ps3 you can plug in the USB that you would use for your pc
