My grandma has nicely volunteered to make the food for my wedding and wanted to start with Lasagna as the main dish. We can't think of any ideas on what to make to go with it. Any ideas on what goes well with lasagna? Thanks

I would serve salad first, then the lasagna, then a meat or poultry dish. Chicken with lemon and garlic is always a favorite at my house. When I have lasagne, I always make the chicken dish. Also have a great vegetable like stringbeans almondine. Perfect! Then cake and coffee & tea.
You will need:
lemons,
garlic
parsley
chicken pieces
pepper and salt
White wine

Bake for about 1 hour and 1/4.

P.S. a great website is food.com. You can get alot of ideas for what to serve at a wedding reception.

I don't know how many people you are thinking about inviting but you may want to consider a veggie lasagna as well, for any non-meat eaters.

A great thing about lasagna is it can be made a couple days in advance. That way she won't be so rushed all the time hours before the wedding.

I think that sounds great, but I hope your grandmother has some help and isn't trying to make salads and desserts. I love tiramisu but tarts are just as good. A strawberry and cream tart or a lemon tart. If its a summer wedding italian ice or a sherbert would be great.

Start with either a cold pasta salad (summer) or a soup (winter). Then salad. Then the lasagne, and end with the dessert.

What a good practical Idea garlic bread salad meatballs, eggplant or chicken parmseasean
and some appetizers like pigs in the blanket which are hot dogs wrapped up in bread dough and put in the oven. Some tasty vegatables garlic salt and olive oil work wonders on veggies, usually for a buffet you have one or 2 meet dishes a pasta dish or two and vegatables or rice. At my wedding I had 6 hot dishes cant remember what they were then cold salads and sandwiches and salads. Your grandma is very speical my grandma when she was a live was a pain in the booty:) but I still loved her. Be sure to write grandma a thank you card with a speical gift for all the hard work she is going to do for you. Best wishes on your wedding:)

I do the paperwork for my dad's catering company. I would say a plated salad with light dressings, sauteed mix vegetables would accompany lasagna well. Garlic Bread. I would suggest a pasta station. That way guests can choose preferred fillings. You may have a vegetarian or picky eaters. So if you do, do lasagna you should make a large variety. Save yourself the hassle and do the pasta station. PAsta (Penne and Bowtie pasta), Sauces (alfredo, marinara sauce), Meatballs, Vegetables, Chicken and Various Cheeses.

We are serving this lasagna for our rehearsal dinner and this is what we thinking about serving

mozzarella sticks, cheesy bread, Garlic bread of course, side salad or Cesar salad, any kind of soup you enjoy, spaghetti, Alfredo or fettichine, fruit tray, cheese tray. These are what we came up with.

We are going to get the bread stick and salad from Olive Garden and possible the soup.

Best Wishes and good luck in planning your special day!

Salad and garlic bread or bread sticks are kind of the standard. You might also consider steamed broccoli, creamed spinach and/or sauteed mushrooms as a vegetable, a salad of tomatoes, basil leaves and mozzarella cheese, a cheese and meat/antipasto tray. If you want another entree, consider baked chicken (try it Mediterranean style--marinated in lemon and olive oil) with roasted potatoes. You could have Italian Wedding soup or minestrone if you want to serve a soup. I'm making myself hungry just thinking about it!

For appetizers, bruschetta, fresh fruit and/ or veggies in season. Pesto Torte, stuffed mushrooms, marinated mushrooms. Shrimp. For side dishes a white bean salad, green salad, if it will be summer fresh tomato and cucumber salads. Bread with butter or garlic bread, foccacio bread or bread sticks or all of the above. Green beans in a martini vinaigrette with caramelized onions. Three bean salad. Cheese tortellini salad for vegetarians. Marinated cauliflower or a cheesy cauliflower casserole in the winter.

That's so nice of her! Have a beef roast, turkey or ham as a main meat; a variety of salads; a potato dish, hot mixed veggies; buns, garlic toast, cheeses, pickles....
