Probably around 10% saving on fuel (MPG), but Diesel is often more expensive than regular 95 RON unleaded.

You will get more mph, I get between 50 and 60 MPG on a VW Bora 1.9 Diesel driven carefully. 600-700 miles per tank.

VED may be cheaper, but this is a minor saving.

Personal Tax for a company car is discounted for Diesel cars at the moment.

But, serving will be more expensive. Service interval around 20K miles, so this is a minor cost.

Some engines, like mine use a little oil, so make sure you check regularly. Apparently this is by design, the engine uses an expensive 'long life' oil (£14 a litre).

VAG parts can be expensive, a replacement key is £160 plus VAT.

The initial cost is the killer and unless you do a big mileage stay with the Petrol.Diesel is now more expensive than Petrol. They conned us all again. But may I suggest you also look at the Toyota Auris T180 its quick and reasonable on Diesel.Examples at 4000mls can be had at a very good price as the model as no pedigree.Full of toys it is one of the best cars around try one you will be amazed.

You're doing a fair few miles. I would say you'll save £30-35 per month. I have heard (second-hand) that the newer Audi engines sip fuel so I guess it depends what year it is.
